Taft is currently seeking an Accounts Payable Manager to work in our Accounting department.

The Accounts Payable Manager oversees all aspects of vendor payments and employee reimbursements, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing in adherence to Taft policies. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. The ideal candidate has a solid accounting background, excellent problem-solving and communication skills, and experience leading AP operations. Proficiency in accounting software and process automation is essential. This role will report directly to the VP of Finance. Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Managing the accounts payable cycle and corporate accounts payable staff, which includes receiving and verifying invoices, workflow approval, policy adherence, and processing timely and accurate payments.
  • Supervising the accounts payable team, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing training and development opportunities.
  • Managing weekly disbursement process and cash flow estimates.
  • Partnering with internal teams and external vendors to resolve discrepancies quickly and professionally.
  • Overseeing/approving workflows as needed to ensure adherence of the firm's policies and proper account coding.
  • Coordinating the annual 1099 filing process for all domestic subsidiaries.
  • Maintaining accurate vendor records across multiple systems.
  • Managing firmwide credit card process
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline AP processes, implementing best practices/procedures, and leveraging technology for efficiency to drive operational efficiencies while maintaining accounting integrity.
  • Collaborating in the implementation of a new ERP system as it relates to the accounts payable function.
  • Assisting Accounting Operations in preparing and/or delivering ad hoc or recurring corporate reporting requests.
  • Ad hoc projects/analyses as requested.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in a management or supervisory role required.
  • Minimum 7+ years' experience with A/P principles.
  • Experience with process improvements and creating/overseeing policies.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles.
  • Advanced analytical, communication, and time management skills.
  • Advanced skills and experience in MS Excel are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead team members and partner with cross functional teams.
  • Ability to problem solve and implement change in procedures to meet firm objectives.
  • Experience in the legal industry is a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge with ERP systems (LMS/Rippe/SurePoint or Aderant is a plus).
