We are currently seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Mechanical Engineer for the Process Gas Division.

POSITION SUMMARY

The primary focus of the position is to assist the Process Gas Division by designing custom process gas blower and compressor packages. Provide technical knowledge, expertise, and documentation regarding Aerzen process gas systems. Develop and ensure high standards g customer specifications at appropriate levels of cost for machines and systems. Design package layouts of fabricated and purchased components and improve/enhance existing calculation tools.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Study and understand customer specifications and internal Aerzen design guidelines; lead, define and carry out the design of the package layout that meets all project goals and requirements including manufacturability.
  • Clarify the applicable rules, regulations, standards, and specifications with customers, suppliers, and internal Aerzen team members.
  • Understand all exceptions to specifications and agreed changes throughout the project; incorporate these into the system design.
  • Generate 3D models and drawings (P&ID, general arrangement, fabrication, etc.) and bills of materials.
  • Perform design calculations and select buy-out items.
  • Perform risk analysis.
  • Provide enhancements and improvements to existing Aerzen tools and datasheets to improve the quality, efficiency, and consistency of design work.
  • Perform complex design work independently.
  • Propose production-suitable and economic designs that can be standardized throughout product family.
  • Provide value engineering to reduce the cost of designs and components without reducing overall quality and safety.
  • Evaluate and analyze feedback from the field and experience reports about the product and implement improvement measures.
  • Check, verify and sign documents produced by designers, design engineers and detailing design engineers.
  • Product changes: collect and prioritize requests based on importance, urgency and scope; plan, manage and validate implementation.
  • Active participation in the optimization of workflows and collaboration at all interface points.
  • Participation of ISO 9001 process for design to ensure compliance.
  • Interact professionally with Aerzen project management, engineering, production, and customer support personnel to provide knowledge regarding specific customers, projects and orders.
  • Be a subject matter resource for all of Aerzen USA for one or more of the topics in the "Experience" section below.
  • Utilize the company's ERP system (Navision) to create BOM's, production orders, checklists, and initiate procurement and/or movement of material.
  • Update product and job knowledge by participating in training opportunities, reading industry publications; networking; participating in professional organizations.
Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required (four-year college or university), Mechanical Engineering preferred

Experience: Five (5) years minimum related experience in a combination of at least 3 of the following fields:

- Packaging of rotating equipment and supporting systems

- Integration and Controls

- Electrical Codes

- Piping and Pressure Vessel

- Structural

- Thermodynamics

- Rotordynamics and Machine Condition Evaluation

- Fluid Dynamics

- Acoustics, Noise, Vibration

- Knowledge/experience in API standards, especially 619, 614, and 686 is desired but not required

- Knowledge/experience in working with oil & gas industry, chemical industry, and EPCs is desired but not required

- Knowledge/experience with screw compressors (oil-free and oil-flooded) and rotary lobe blowers is desired but not required.

Experience in one of the following industries is desired: process equipment packager, chemical / petrochemical industry, other process using heavy industrial rotating equipment.

Computer Skills: Strong capabilities with 2D and 3D design software (Autodesk Inventor or similar); experience generating P&ID's using AutoCAD P&ID or Plant 3D P&ID is preferred. Proficient in MS Office programs, previous experience with enterprise-wide software systems and/or customer relations management software.

Other Requirements: Ability to travel 25% of the time as needed.
