Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer supporting the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center/PEO Digital Directorate (AFLCMC/HB) at Hanscom Air Force Base, MA. The AFPEO/HB is responsible for managing and executing modernization, development, testing, production, fielding, and sustainment of over 130 programs for the United States Air Force (USAF) and foreign allies.

The candidate will provide systems engineering support across the acquisition life cycle, from requirements analysis through system disposal, and may also support Foreign Military Sales. This role requires applying a broad knowledge of systems engineering to support program design, operations, sustainment, and process improvement.

In this Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) role, you will provide expert-level support to Department of Defense (DoD) programs by assisting government leadership with decision-making, planning, and execution throughout the acquisition lifecycle. You will apply your technical and/or professional expertise to ensure compliance with applicable policies and regulations, contribute to mission success, and help deliver critical capabilities to the warfighter.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's in a related field and at least three (5) years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline, three (3) of which must be in the DoD, OR seven (7) years of directly related experience with proper certifications as described in the PWS labor category requirements, five (5) of which must be in the DoD.
  • Requirements development, production and deployment, and sustainment.
  • Architecture development and implementation, modeling & simulation (including MBSE), verification & validation, technical data package development, and configuration management.
  • Network architectures, embedded systems, and application deployment (cloud and virtualization).
  • Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes including Technology Maturation, Risk Reduction, EMD, and Production/Deployment.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Warfare and/or Air Combat operations and Range Infrastructure architectures/systems.
  • Familiarity with foreign ground radar systems.
  • Must be a US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Master's degree in a related field and at least three (3) years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline,

Years of experience:

  • Experience with Honeywell systems (Lenel/Vindicator).
  • Experience with GFP actions and equipment reliability.
  • Ability to read/interpret site installation plans, commercial drawings, system engineering models, and system requirements.

  • Configuration, risk, and interface management
  • Requirements definition and traceability

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct reviews of program portfolios to evaluate/recommend alternative plans, improve systems engineering processes, sustain program baselines, and verify system performance to specifications.
  • Prepare technical documents, management reports, and technical presentations using engineering economy principles.
  • Perform system validation, develop criteria/procedures, and analyze results of major engineering systems.
  • Provide system/program engineering and technical training support for acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, deployment, and operational oversight.
  • Support program/project risk management in compliance with AF SEAM processes.
  • Conduct formal trade studies on performance, cost, reliability, maintainability, schedule, and risk.
  • Support reviews of technical artifacts such as ICDs, CDDs, CPDs, AoAs, CONOPs, Technology Development Strategies, and Technology Standards Profiles.
  • Assist with requirements definition, architecture design, integration, verification, validation, decision analysis, and technical planning.
  • Provide engineering support in design, operation, and sustainment of systems across the life cycle, including architecture development (traditional and MBSE).
  • Track and maintain system architecture and interoperability requirements.
  • Prepare and review acquisition documentation in accordance with DoD and Air Force standards.
  • Conduct technical management activities, including configuration management, interface management, technical data management, and market research/trade studies.
  • Develop and maintain USAF-approved Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMP) and execute testing activities.
  • Participate in integrated logistics support and provisioning activities, including maintenance data collection, configuration management, and source selection for diminishing manufacturing sources.
