We are looking for a Value-Added Products Sales Manager who will be responsible for selling aluminum value-added products, demanding well developed interpersonal and collaboration skills to manage and develop relationship with end users and distributors.

The role requires commercial acumen, a deep understanding of consumer base, strong analytical skills with a solid understanding of the dynamic of global aluminum market, and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The incumbent must be extremely well informed about the market and therefore able to anticipate shifts in the forecast and manage market dynamics.

In this role, you will negotiate physical contracts with customers and distributors across North America

Reporting to the VAP Sales Director (North America), you will:

  • Contribute to the North America Rio Tinto Aluminum sales strategy for value added products to optimize the position through a mix of long-term and short-term sales contracts with customers and distributors
  • Meet revenue targets and key performance indicators; and project sales volume and margin for existing and new products
  • Develop strong and professional relationship with key customers
  • Develop long term developmental opportunities
  • Lead or participate in large contract negotiation
  • Pursue spot market opportunities for new customers

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • B.A. Engineering, Business, Finance or equivalent
  • 5+ years prior work experience within the aluminum and metals industry in commodity sales, manufacturing, and supply chain management
  • Relevant industry background gained from a competitor or company in a related Aluminium industry
  • Proven track record of building business and hitting sales targets
  • Strong commercial outlook and an entrepreneurial approach to business development.
  • Strong acumen for sales, marketing, commercial and business development
  • Proven track record of hitting sales targets
  • Demonstrated ability to simplify complexity and present comprehensible and workable proposals to management
  • Demonstrated experience in prioritising and working through a networked organisation in achieving results
  • Excellent people skills and an ability to build relationships with people at all levels.

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • Some understanding of hedging and derivative instruments

Where you will be working

Chicago is our North American Commercial hub for all Rio Tinto business units, including Aluminum. From this office, we support our Customers and operations through Sales, Logistics, Marketing, as well as Customer service.
