As the Production Engineer, you will provide process and technical support to a unit within a manufacturing facility in the Precipitated Silica business. You will work with Area Manager, Production Technician and unit operators to maintain production and safety within the assigned area.

You will be located at Qemetica's Lake Charles Plant, LA plant, reporting to the Global Process Technology Manager. Qemetica offers excellent Medical, Dental, & Vision Benefits; matching 401k + retirement savings; and Paid Vacation, Holiday pay.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will monitor daily unit operations and performance of assigned production area and provide technical assistance.
  • Support unit shutdowns and outages with technical input.
  • Provide engineering support for multiple plant capital projects from conception through startup. Prepare Scope of Work for new capital projects. Function as Project Sponsor on specific capital projects.
  • You will apply technical knowledge to develop and implement process improvements or capital improvements to guide long-term success of the operating unit
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement projects with an emphasis on cost reduction, production improvement, energy savings, and waste minimization
  • Provide input for the production, capital, and operating expense budgets
  • You will work with both onsite and offsite teams including Maintenance/Reliability, Instrumentation, Electrical & Controls (IE&C), Accounting, Commercial Logistics, and Vendors
  • Track input for improvements for Equipment Availability / Reliability for Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
  • Understand energy requirements for production unit to participate in sustainability improvement efforts

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical/Process/Mechanical concentration preferred)
  • 0 to 3 years of experience in site manufacturing/operations, process engineering
  • Knowledge in Lean/Six Sigma methodologies
  • Experience in project planning, execution and budgeting process beneficial but not required
