Job Summary

The Grounds Manager must be subject matter expert in Grounds, and Facilities Management. The individuals in this position provide technical support to the unit, management, and clients. The Grounds Manager will be relied on to install SSC Standard Operating Procedures and Systems, and train individuals on subject matter. The focus of this position is to be a subject matter expert in grounds/ athletic fields management, and grounds sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plans and implements management programs, including defining activities, achievements, and staff requirements, per SSC program and system procedures.
  • Implements Management operating programs, policies, procedures, management calendars, and regulatory compliance systems in support of local unit operations.
  • Performs Grounds/ Athletic Field QA Assessments and Safety Audits at various location under contract.
  • Develops and maintains a schedule and budget for the assigned unit as needed. Controls expenditures within limitations of budget.
  • Provides reports on the status of project achievements and adjusts schedules accordingly.
  • Prepares locally customized operating unit policies and operating programs and procedures for compliance with management best practices, company standards, customer contract requirements, and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Coordinates or completes preparation of client deliverables, reports, quality assurance documentation.
  • Assigns and oversees special project personnel to specific phases or aspects of each assignment. Provides training, guidance, standards knowledge, and technical expertise to department staff and supervisors as needed.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in grounds, landscape and athletic field management
  • Must be recognized/ able to demonstrate as an expert in their area of expertise
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written format and oral presentations
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities
  • Exhibits initiative, responsibility, flexibility and leadership
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of contract administration and office procedures
  • Ability to use working knowledge of environment to meet established goals and objectives
  • Must possess strong organizational skills and be well structured.
  • Proficient in the use of Windows based office software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Computed Maintenance Management.
  • must have valid driver's license and all applicable licenses/ Certifications to discipline. Preferable certifications; Sports field Management, Horticulture, Grounds Management, or Arboriculture, or willing to obtain within 6 months of employment.
