Job Summary

As theAssociate Vice President of Operations at SSC Services for Education, you will lead strategic and operational initiatives across a designated region, ensuring excellence in facilities management, capital project execution, and customer satisfaction. You will oversee multi-site operations across K-12 and higher education environments, driving performance in alignment with SSC's core values, compliance standards, and long-term client partnerships.

This is a highly visible leadership role requiring strong expertise in engineering and facilities operations, team development, compliance, financial performance, and innovation within educational environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with senior leadership and clients to establish strategic goals for facility operations that align with institutional and SSC objectives.
  • Lead multi-site operations with accountability for service excellence, safety, compliance, preventative maintenance, and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of capital improvement projects (CAPEX), ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery.
  • Monitor and manage financial performance for the region, including forecasting, budgeting, cost control, and P&L accountability.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ADA, environmental protocols) across all managed sites.
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation in facilities operations, energy management, and maintenance systems.
  • Champion staff development through training, coaching, and leadership engagement to maintain a high-performing culture.
  • Serve as a liaison with campus leadership, promoting collaboration and transparency across teams.
  • Resolve raised client and customer issues with a focus on long-term satisfaction and retention.
  • Represent SSC's commitment to excellence and partnership in all external and internal communications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Facilities Management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in multi-site or regional facilities operations within education, hospitality, or commercial environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in capital project management, compliance leadership, and operational transformation.
  • Strong background in preventative maintenance programs, energy initiatives, and vendor management.
  • Proven ability to lead large teams across multiple sites and manage cross-functional projects.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
  • Certifications in facilities engineering, HVAC, or related technical fields preferred.
