Job Summary:
The Aircraft Mechanic II - Ordnance at HSM-41 is responsible for performing comprehensive maintenance on military aircraft,
specializing in systems such as structure, landing gear, engines, avionics, rotor systems, hydraulic systems, and armament. The role
also involves managing maintenance teams, approving time cards, and ensuring timely completion of tasks. This position may
require working with foreign personnel and adapting to different cultures and languages. Must be able to work all shifts. Full time
employment; but 40 hour is not guaranteed per-week. Working hours; must be able to be flexible, start time and end time will be
dependent on flight schedule and or overall tasking.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
* Aircraft Maintenance and Repair:
o Perform repairs on aircraft systems, including structures, engines, rotor systems, avionics, flight surfaces,
hydraulic units, and more.
o Use various tools and equipment (e.g., shears, welding equipment, rivet guns) to work on aircraft components.
o Rewire, reassemble, and repair avionic systems, cockpit avionics, and aircraft fuselage, ensuring proper corrosion
and paint treatments.
* Technical Manuals and Documentation:
o Read and interpret manufacturers' and maintenance manuals, OPNAV 4790, service bulletins, engineering data,
and other specifications.
o Follow local GOP, LOI, PQS, and safety orders for effective repair and replacement of aircraft components.
* Inspections and Maintenance:
o Perform various inspections (175-hour, phase, periodic, etc.) to identify issues like cracks, corrosion, and foreign
object damage.
o Replace or repair damaged components such as generators, fuel pumps, and oil pumps.
o Oversee engine operation testing and complete engine removal, disassembly, inspection, and reinstallation.
* Preflight, Thru-flight, and Post-flight Inspections:
o Conduct preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, including servicing aircraft systems like
flushing gearboxes, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.
o Record maintenance performed and verify satisfactory completion of work.
* Leadership and Team Management:
o Manage and assign work to other mechanics, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
o Approve time cards for mechanics and ensure efficient completion of workload.
o Ensure safety procedures are followed for all maintenance tasks.
* Jacking and Towing:
o Participate in jacking and towing of aircraft, ensuring all work is completed safely and according to regulations.
* Specialization and Technical Directive (TD) Support Equipment Compliance:
o Specialize in one or more areas (e.g., engines, airframes, electrical, armament) and perform necessary
modifications to aircraft systems.
o Manage Technical Directive and Support Equipment (SE) programs, ensuring compliance and timely procurement
of required parts.

* Additional Duties:
o Participate in FOD (Foreign Object Debris) programs, safety programs, and Hazmat handling and disposal.
o Ensure all required equipment licenses are obtained and maintained.
o Maintain detailed records of all maintenance performed in OOMA or similar to OOMA systems ensuring
compliance with 4790 and safety standards.
o Will be the designated EGRESS program coordinator for HSM41 work site.
o Will be responsible for AMI and MPA, and any other program requirements.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Education & Experience:
o High school diploma or equivalent.
o Minimum of 5 years of actual and recent O-level H-60S/R/F/H aircraft maintenance experience or equivalent
rotary aircraft experience.
o At least 5 years of experience as a CDQAR/QAR for H60 aircraft.
o 2 years of management-level experience.
o Ordnance certification shall be required to obtain.
* Certifications & Skills:
o Must be able to obtain and maintain qualifications as outlined in CNAFINST 4790.2 and local work instructions.
o Must be qualified as a Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative (CDQAR).
o Experience with military aircraft, especially H-60 series, is preferred.
o Must be proficient with technical data, using computer programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook,
NALCOMIS/OOMA).
* Security & Clearance:
o Must be able to obtain and maintain a US government Common Access Card (CAC) and pass a pre-employment
drug screen.
o Must have a Tier 3 Background Investigation, with a secret clearance potentially required.
* Language & Communication:
o Must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
o Ability to work with foreign personnel and cultures is necessary.
* Other Requirements:
o Must be able to work all shifts, with flexible hours depending on flight schedules.
o Must have a valid state driver's license.
* Preferred Qualifications:
o Prior experience with U.S. Navy maintenance operations and MH-60R aircraft is highly preferred.
Working Conditions:
* Work Environment and Physical Demands:
o Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
o Computer usage for documentation using codes and clear written and verbal English language required.
o Constant use of eye sight abilities while reviewing documents, walking around work areas and constant
use of English language speech/hearing abilities for communication.
o Climbing aircraft using aircraft step and all types of ladders or stands.
o Standing long period of time and minimal sitting. Ability to work under extreme weather conditions.
o Work site has head, hand, hearing, eye, slip and trip hazards shall use proper PPE and proper safety
procedures.
o Emergency can arise on work site, ensure proper procedures are utilized.
o This is not an all-inclusive list of all work environment, physical demands, and mental demands.
* Mental Demands:
o Constant mental alertness around all work areas, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able
to work under deadlines.
o Requires strong attention to detail, mental alertness, and the ability to work under deadlines.
o Must be able to handle stress and changing work conditions effectively.
o Will be working in both indoor and outdoor settings, including hangars and flight lines, and may work
with hazardous materials.
