Designer | Grand Rapids, MI | Hybrid
As a Designer, you are an established performer of the XRD practice. You will be responsible for working with cross-functional teams and participating in various stages of the service design process, from research and ideation to prototyping and implementation. This role requires a deep understanding of human-centered design principles, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive the design direction for complex service ecosystems.

What You'll Accomplish:
* Establish yourself as a reliable teammate by setting and meeting reasonable expectations, communicating progress, calling out risks, and delivering on commitments including timeline and budget.

* Produce high-quality design and research work that meets practice standards.
* Take responsibility for individual contributions.
* Confidently execute feature-level product design and solve according to project requirement's specific functional problems that support our clients' business objectives, honor the end user, and achieve desired outcomes and/or participate in user research and partner on insight development and creation of service design artifacts.
* Develop subject matter expertise within at least one domain.
* Create and maintain necessary technical documentation.
* Assist in developing and implementing testing strategies.
* Participate and present in client meetings and project rituals.
* Lend your expertise to the creation of supporting presales materials including proposals, case studies, and presentation decks.
* Participate in research, insight development, and creation of service design artifacts.
* Promote design mindsets and practices across the organization by participating in training and events and serving as a voice for the value of design.
* Enthusiastically pursue professional skill development opportunities.
* Take an active role in design critiques; offer guidance and feedback to peers.
* Support the growth of Associate Designers and Interns through mentorship in client work.
* Communicate concepts and insights clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What You'll Bring:

* Familiarity with human-centered design methodologies.
* Proficiency in relevant design (i.e., Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite) and/or research (i.e., Dovetail, Marvin) tools.

* Understanding of the software development lifecycle from design to deployment and maintenance.
* Ability to navigate ambiguity, empathize with users, and resilience to adapt and flex as needed.

* Experience managing priorities and working on 1-2 projects simultaneously.

Education/Experience:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in interaction design, interface design, human computer interaction, human-centered design, fine arts, research, graphic design or UX.
* At least 3-5 years of relevant experience and a strong portfolio that reflects your experience designing applications, experiences, websites, products, and services that balance user needs, business objectives, and technical constraints
