About the Job

Duties:
Using data obtained at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) lead analysis teams to perform measurements of the Higgs boson properties, and other standard model physical phenomena.
Prepare publications for scientific journals of results obtained at the CERN LHC and new methods to analyze the data.
Conceive and propose novel applications of instruments in high energy physics and industry.
25% Research and data analysis at the Large Hadron Collider.
25% Development of new instruments for nuclear and high energy physics detectors.
25% Communication of Research Results.
25% Mentoring students and postdoctoral fellows.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
PhD in High Energy Physics or related field.
Strong background in the study of natural phenomena in accelerator- and non-accelerator-based experiments to understand the physical phenomena at the highest energies and the development of instrumentation to conduct these experiments.

Preferred qualifications:
Extensive experience in the analysis of data obtained in high energy physics experiments, including measurements of the properties of the Higgs boson. Proven ability to conceive, propose, and design new detectors to address novel research questions in high energy physics. Proven ability in the development of novel detector technologies for high energy and nuclear physics detectors. Proven ability to successfully advise graduate students and post-doctoral fellows.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $60,000 - $80,000 depending on education/qualifications/experience. The pay range listed is for a 48.75% appointment (19.5 hours per week)
