Computer Technology Support Specialist

This position is to provide direct technical support in software and hardware applications for all district employees; to assist with continual assessment of the District's Technology Plan, goals and objectives; to provide in-servicing for appropriate staff as assigned by administration.

DUTIES:



  • Provides on-site, remote and phone support to multiple schools.
  • Installs, configures and upgrades hardware, operating system software and application software.
  • Works with tech support colleagues, school staff and students to match their needs with appropriate equipment and software.
  • Uses the Helpdesk to:

    • Anticipate and troubleshoot problems
    • Prioritize issues
    • Communicate with staff
    • Document resolutions


  • Maintains software and hardware inventories for various sites, as necessary.
  • Engages in professional learning and growth through courses, workshops and independent study.
  • Professional customer service and relation skills with staff, students, community members and colleagues.
  • Direct and mentor student IT employees.
  • Performs other tasks or assumes other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn and administer device/policy/system/classroom management technologies such as:

    • Active Directory
    • Group Policy
    • Mobile device management
    • Wireless system
    • VOIP systems
    • GAFE
    • Networking protocols


  • Working knowledge with the following operating systems:

    • Windows
    • iOS
    • MacOS
    • Chrome


  • A strong interest in education and growth of students


Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent relevant experience in technology support.
  • Excellent oral communication, written communication, time-management and organizational skills.
  • Positive, effective and professional customer service and relation skills with staff, students, community members and colleagues whose technology skill levels vary widely.
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision, and exhibit adaptability and flexibility.
  • Pro-active attitude in anticipating, pre-empting, finding and solving problems.
  • A strong interest in education and its curricula.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds safely.
