Automated Machine Operator 2nd Shift: Monday - Friday; 3PM - 11PM PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Set-up and operate automatic bar & chucking machines to produce finished bodies. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE This position requires: (1) a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma; (2) completion of basic math, blueprint reading and gauge-reading training; (3) the ability to understand written and oral instructions and communicate with supervisors and coworkers; (4) a minimum of two years of Bar & Chucker Operator experience, or equivalent machining experience; and, (5) a forklift's operators license. Certification as a Journeyman in the metal trades industry, or current enrollment in an Apprentice Machinist Program is preferred. KEY JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES 1 Safety: Perform pre-operation checks for both individual machines and work area. Perform safety inspections required for individual machines and associated equipment. 2 Production: Set-up and troubleshoot Automatic Bar & Chucking machines, including first article set up kits. Change, replace, adjust worn tooling, and machine components. Adjust and document set-up information, including speeds, feeds, and cycle time on prints. Instruct and direct Automatic Bar & Chucking Machine operator on general machine operation as needed. Perform preventive maintenance and repairs as needed or as directed by the Supervisor or Master Mechanic/Technician. Work as fill-in for machine operators as needed. 3 Quality: Inspect parts to meet established ISO requirements 4 Delivery: Process shop orders to meet established due dates 5 Cost: Responsible for tracking and problem solving of the materials used and efficient equipment use to reduce cost. 6 Inventory: Responsible for management of WIP and components (i.e., carbide inserts, drills, tool holders, Tool Boss, etc.). 7 Lean: Participate in lean events and utilize lean processes in daily duties 8 TPM: Perform daily required TPM on fork lift and associated equipment 9 5S: Perform daily required 5S activities for fork lift and work area 10 Metrics: Perform daily activities associated with gathering and posting established metrics 11 Data: Accurate and timely recording of required data (i.e. Production, Quality, etc) Equal Opportunity Employer |
