Job Overview
- Plans and directs Environmental, safety and health activities for the ASC Reidsville Site. Leads site in achieving and maintaining overall OHSE governmental and Amcor compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations. This position is to protect and promote the environment, health and safety of all co-workers and the community in which we operate
Job Dimensions
- ASC Reidsville Site which is located in Reidsville North Carolina, USA.
Principal Accountabilities
- Provide and ensure a culture of Safety First.
- Provides expertise on machine guarding, control of hazardous energy (LOTO), confined space, working and heights, lifting equipment, fire prevention, hazardous materials and electrical safety.
- Evaluate OHSE compliance, report on compliance status, recommend corrective actions, implement and/or support the implementation of ASC Global and Regional Directives.
- Ensures Plant OHSE co-workers maintain and update procedures and policies in regard to ASC and local and regional policies, ISO and governmental regulations.
- Provide Leadership, support and training to site personnel and maintain all safety training programs.
- Enforces use of safety equipment, and counsels co-workers to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Investigates accidents and prepares accident reports.
- Monitors injury rates and Worker's Compensation claims.
- Facilitates safety training or obtains outside consultants to perform training, i.e. LOTO, waste (RCRA), HazCom and other procedures and annual required training.
- Establish the protocol for and oversee the various testing, i.e. Noise Levels, Air Quality, etc. required at each site.
- Coordinates, evaluates, and recommends procedures for our EPR to ensure safe and effective evacuation and medical attention to minimize financial and human resources losses.
- Facilitates forklift training to operators to qualify for licensing.
- Coordinate hearing tests to co-workers as required.
- Manage all safety PPE, including, but not limited to: issue prescription eyewear and safety shoe vouchers, order and control PPE and janitorial supplies.
- Maintain all OHSE communication boards and documents.
- Assists management to prepare the annual safety and health budget.
- Lead local OHSE Team, including, act as project manager on OHSE specific projects such as equipment risk analysis.
- Develop and monitors emergency action plans in place and compliant.
- Prepares and updates OHSE policies and procedures as required.
- Perform environmental and safety audits to ensure we are meeting all EPA regulations.
- Liaison to federal, state, and local authorities for environmental and safety compliance; air quality, emissions, storm water, waste management, OHSA.
- Any and all other tasks or projects as required by management.

- Fostering a culture of safe behavior at all levels of ASC Reidsville Site.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelors in like discipline. Masters of Science a plus.
- 7-10 Years in OHSE manufacturing environment.
- Certification or formal training in related regulatory agencies and OSHA.
- Experience with ISO 14001:1996, OHSAS 18001:1999, and ISO 9001:2000highly desirable.
- Must have proficient skills in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and Power Point).

Physical Requirements
- This position may require prolonged periods of sitting, stopping, standing, and/or reaching, balancing, climbing, kneeling, crouching, reaching with hands and arms, hearing and speaking.
- Must be able to travel both domestically and internationally.
- Manual dexterity is required and ability to occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.
Site Managers
- A personal (and ongoing) awareness of the hazards and risks which arise in relation to their area of responsibility.
- OHS, Environment and Sustainability development policies communicated and deployed in area.
- Ensure all co-workers, contractors and visitors have undertaken departmental OHSE inductions.
- Safe Operating Procedures (SOP's) to be developed and implemented in accordance with departmental risk profile.
- Ensure safe systems of work (SOP's, risk assessment, workplace inspections etc) are implemented and monitored as per the WHSE management system.
- Ensure safety is an agenda item in all team meetings.
- Ensure required OHSE training is undertaken.
- Ensure all hazards/incidents are reported, documented and investigated and corrective actions are addressed.
- Resources are allocated to OHSE functions in the area of responsibility.
- Support HSR's to manage OHSE related functions within their responsibility.
