This is ahybrid position based out of Feeding America's Chicago office location. At Feeding America, we believe in offering a flexible work environment. Employees can be in the office an average of 2 days a week (when not travelling for work) and work from home on other days. Employees also have access to a 30-day "work anywhere" program during the course of each calendar year that can be combined with PTO and/or holidays.

The Opportunity

The Manager, Donor Communications & Content manages Feeding America's donor communications to power fundraising and deepen engagement. Through compelling proposals, stewardship materials and timely content, the Manager serves as a storyteller and brand steward-helping to activate donor trust and philanthropic commitment to support our mission to end hunger.
Compensation

Here at Feeding America national organization, equality is central to our mission and is an integral part of our compensation policies and structures. As such, we maintain transparent salary ranges and clearly defined practices for how our team, including new hire salary offers, moves through these ranges. You can expect us to offer the best salary up front based on these clearly defined pay practices with little room for negotiation. We make exceptions for highly experienced (multiple years of at-level experience) new hires in accordance with our pay practices. Once hired, employees have the opportunity to progress through salary ranges via regular merit increases and step promotions.

Salary Range: $82,000 - $87,000 Based on Experience.

Responsibilities:
Strategic Communications & Writing
  • Develops and executes donor-facing communication strategies and assets that align with fundraising and engagement priorities.
  • Writes, edits and project manages a wide range of donor materials: proposals, reports, stewardship content, impact stories and rapid-response updates.
  • Crafts content that is timely, relevant and reflective of national issues, Feeding America's initiatives, and donor impact.
Brand and Message Discipline
  • Ensures consistency with Feeding America's brand voice, narrative strategy and style guide.
  • Upholds respect in storytelling principles that emphasize the dignity and strengths of people facing hunger.
  • Partners with internal and external stakeholders to ensure message alignment, data accuracy and audience-specific clarity in donor materials.
Disaster & Special Projects
  • Deploys donor messaging in response to disasters and crises, highlighting organizational response and impact in line with the Marketing and Communications strategy.
  • Supports MarCom leadership with special projects that require advanced writing and messaging expertise.
  • Contributes to other Marketing and Communications efforts as needed.
    Required Experience and Qualifications:
    • 5+ years of professional writing and project management experience, preferably in a nonprofit or academic environment.
    • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft persuasive, well-structured and impactful written materials.
    • Familiarity with nonprofit operations, philanthropy, and fundraising principles.
    • Basic familiarity with layout in graphic design applications (e.g., Canva, InDesign).
    • Familiarity with CRM and fundraising platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Blackbaud) is a plus.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
    • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to write under tight deadlines.
    • Demonstrates great attention to detail.
    • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including development officers, designers and data analysts.
