At Thomson Reuters, we're revolutionizing how legal professionals work through cutting-edge generative AI solutions. As AI Solutions Engineer of CoCounsel AI Applications, you'll will develop next generation CoCounsel product to transform the legal industry.

About The Role:

As anAI Solutions Engineer, you will work with a cross functional team at the intersection of science, product, and engineering to:

  • Develop zero-to-one concepts for expert systems

  • Systematically discover and test prompt engineering best practices

  • Optimize data sets for prompt development, model training and evaluation

  • Help create and maintain infrastructure required for efficient prompt development

  • Test and assess open-source solutions for LLM application development including orchestration frameworks, tool interfaces, solutions for context management, etc.

  • Develop automated techniques for the design and evaluation of AI agents

  • Analyze usage data to gauge the effectiveness of AI solutions and iteratively improve

  • Stay up to date with the latest research and emerging tech for AI Engineering

About You:

The ideal candidate for the role ofAI Solutions Engineerwill have a background in NLP, experience building with LLMs, python proficiency for rapid prototyping, and the soft skills to bridge technical and business perspectives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in CS/ML/DS or a bachelor's with equivalent experience.

  • Python Programming: Advanced proficiency in Python, including experience developing backend APIs (preferably using FastAPI; otherwise, Flask, or Django) and integrating with external APIs and data sources.

  • API Integration: Demonstrated experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and working with authentication, error handling, and data serialization.

  • A good understanding of the latest industry trends and frameworks such as the Model Context Protocol (MCP), Agent to Agent (A2A), and overall experience with Agentic GenAI applications is also required.

  • GenAI/LLM Experience: Experience with GenAI, LLMs, RAG, and prompt engineering.

  • Previous experience with at least one of the major LLM vendors (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google) via their first-party SDK or a framework such as LangChain / LangGraph / CrewAI / AutoGen / PydanticAI / LiteLLM.

  • A good understanding of the internals, scaling, and limitations of Transformer models is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with NLP libraries such as spaCy, NLTK, Hugging Face Transformers, and gensim is highly valuable.

  • Experience with agentic AI design patterns, multi-agent workflows, and orchestration of autonomous AI systems to solve complex tasks.

  • Machine Learning Expertise: Experience developing, fine-tuning, and deploying ML models using frameworks such as scikit-learn, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.

  • Deployment: Familiarity with containerization (Docker), cloud AI services (Azure ML, AWS SageMaker, GCP Vertex AI), and CI/CD practices for deploying API and backend services.

  • Conversational Agents / NLP Experience: Experience designing, developing, and optimizing conversational AI systems, chatbots, or virtual assistants. Familiarity with dialogue management, intent recognition, entity extraction, and sentiment analysis.

  • Vector Database Experience: Hands-on experience with vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus, Qdrant, or Chroma for semantic search and efficient similarity-based retrieval in RAG applications.

  • Evaluation & Monitoring: Strong background in model evaluation metrics, error analysis, and continuous monitoring in production environments.

  • API & Data Security: Understanding of secure API development, data privacy, and compliance best practices

  • Legal Tech Familiarity: Exposure to legal domain data, document processing, or legal technology platforms is a plus but not required.

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations.
For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation range for this role is $70,000 - $130,000.
This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
