Description

This position provides clinical and technical support of standardized psychological, neuropsychological, and personality assessment instruments to patients of all ages. All activities are performed under the supervision of a licensed clinical psychologist or neuropsychologist within the Department of Psychiatry, a part of the Neuroscience Institute.
SIU School of Medicine does not participate in the E-Verify program. Employment eligibility will be verified in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.

Examples of Duties

Clinical 98% * Upon assignment from the staff psychologist, the technician will conduct the designated assessment in a standardized manner. This includes developing and maintaining clinical rapport with the patient/family, and safeguarding against events or variables which might confound the validity of the data. * Scores protocols, records behavioral observations of the persons tested, completes paperwork details and forwards all information to the responsible psychologist according to protocol. Ensures the appropriate referral materials (Physician's H&P, neuroimaging reports, etc.) are received prior to assessment. * Learns new assessment instruments, observes administration of such instruments by licensed psychologist(s), and practices administration with volunteers to develop competency in conducting tests. * Provides coverage in maintaining inventory of the testing materials and submits orders for supplies as necessary. * Assists in maintaining monthly activity log for assessment conducted and neuropsychological database. * Demonstrates support for and participates as requested in accomplishing SIU School of Medicine and Department of Psychiatry goals and objectives.
Administration 2% * Maintains confidentiality of department and patient information. * Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors. * Participates in departmental meetings. * Performs other related duties as required.
