Koch is looking for a Payroll Tax Senior Analyst to join their Atlanta or Wichita office. This position is essential for US employer payroll tax compliance and requires strong attention to detail and a solid understanding of labor and employment tax regulations. The role involves working closely with internal and external partners, identifying and implementing process improvements, ensuring compliance and efficiency, and mentoring junior team members to promote operational excellence. Additionally, the position will assist with merger, acquisition and divestiture projects.

What You Will Do

  • Consult and/or lead tax team projects for Mergers, Acquisitions, Divestitures, and company reorganizations
  • Maintain and enhance quarterly processing procedures for third party vendors (Equifax, ADP) and HRT business partners
  • Develop and maintain payroll tax team escalations matrix
  • Partner with team members and internal partners to identify and analyze the root causes of variances arising during periodic payroll processing
  • Perform root cause analysis reviews to drive process improvements, mitigate future risks and promote continuous learning
  • Oversee the annual unemployment tax rate management process
  • Partner with internal global service teams to oversee and ensure payroll tax processes are completed on time, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll tax data to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with HR and internal partner teams to resolve payroll tax-related issues and provide exceptional customer service to employees.
  • Partner to respond to complex payroll related inquiries from employees and/or key stakeholders
  • Stay current with changes in payroll laws and regulations, ensuring compliance and advising the team on necessary adjustments.
  • Perform special projects assigned by supervisor.
  • Utilize critical thinking to troubleshoot and resolve issues and discrepancies
  • Collaborate with payroll leadership and other departments to implement payroll automation and standardization.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll related operations
  • Experience applying labor and employment tax regulations.
  • Ability to work in a large, fast pace, complex employment tax structure.
  • Experience driving automation and process improvements in operational roles
  • Experience working independently and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience with SAP, Kronos, and/or Dayforce
