Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Capital Markets, the Capital Markets Intern will gain hands-on experience supporting the development and refinement of portfolio-level financial models for renewable energy projects. This role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with teams across the organization-including project development and asset management-while learning how capital is structured and raised in a fast-growing clean energy company.

The intern will assist in various aspects of capital markets transactions, including both debt and tax equity financing.

Responsibilities will include supporting financial modeling and analysis, helping with due diligence processes, and engaging with external capital providers such as banks, tax equity investors, and equity partners. The role also involves assisting in the execution of third-party financing deals, including tax equity partnerships, project finance structures, and credit arrangements. This internship is ideal for a candidate looking to gain real-world experience in renewable energy finance and capital markets while working alongside experienced professionals in a collaborative and mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for the execution and performance of various capital markets activities, including, but not limited to:

  • Assist in building and updating financial models under the guidance of senior team members, including support for tax equity and debt structures

  • Support the team in conducting due diligence and preparing materials for capital markets transactions, including debt and equity offerings

  • Help prepare presentation materials such as teaser decks, Confidential Information Memorandums (CIMs), and internal memos

  • Conduct research and help analyze trends in the renewable energy finance space, including debt and equity markets

  • Assist in preparing content for internal strategy and board presentations used in investment decision-making

  • Take on additional tasks and projects as needed to support the Capital Markets team

Basic Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled and pursuing a four-year degree in finance or accounting

Desired Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in finance or accounting

  • Have and maintain a GPA if 3.0 or higher

  • Experience in utility-scale renewable energy finance

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the desire to work in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment

  • Experience with modelling both tax equity and debt structures

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a flat organization, successfully leveraging the expertise of multiple colleagues in different lines of reporting

  • Ability to multi-task and arbitrate between conflicting priorities

  • Ability to take ownership over tasks and work proactively

  • Working knowledge of power markets in North America

  • Basic understanding of and/or ability to address concepts including, basis risk, power markets, hedging, losses, and congestion across markets

Working Conditions

  • This position is located in Charlotte, NC or may be remote

  • 10 to 15 hour per week
