The Department of Chemistry at the University of Virginia (UVA) invites applications for Postdoctoral Research in Drug Discovery, Medicinal Chemistry, and Chemical Biology, under the direction of Professor Muhammad Murtaza Hassan (https://chemistry.as.virginia.edu/people/muhammad-murtaza-hassan-beginning-august-2025) The successful candidate (s) will be expected to be creative, capable of working independently, be a team player and help mentor fellow trainees as well as publish in highly reputable peer-reviewed journals. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: A PhD in chemistry (organic synthesis) is a mandatory requirement by the appointment start date. Desirable qualifications include expertise in theoretical and hands-on organic synthesis (e.g., air sensitive), spectroscopy (e.g., NMR, IR, UV-Vis), computational tools (in silico docking, DFT studies, etc.), medicinal chemistry, and chemical biology.
