Qualifications

  • Education and Experience

    • High school diploma/GED.
    • If assigned to Public Works or Utilities: One (1) year of experience in the maintenance and repair of utilities, stormwater or transportation infrastructure.
  • Licenses or Certifications
    • If assigned to Public Works or Utilities: Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic/Temporary Traffic Control certification within six (6) months of hire or promotion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs semi-skilled manual and limited technical work for installation and maintenance of City water, sewer and irrigation infrastructure.
  • When Assigned to Public Works: Performs maintenance and repair on municipal property, i.e., installation, maintenance and repair of stormwater infrastructure including catch basins, swales, pipes, outfalls, weirs, and canals; installation, maintenance, and repair of transportation infrastructure including curbs, gutters, sidewalks, streetlights, signs, pavement, and landscaping.
  • Ensures the proper stocking and functioning of equipment and supplies in assigned city vehicle(s) and prepares work sites per daily work orders.
  • Knowledge of municipal water and irrigation maintenance and repair work.
  • Ability to use tools and maintenance equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
