Overview

The Facilities Technician will be performing a wide variety of work as part of our Facility team which ensures that our facility is well maintained in a safe and effective working condition. Attention to detail is required. Work performed will be within the San Jose campus and depend upon the immediate needs of the department and other Facilities staff. While this Facilities Technician may be developed with highly specialized skills in one or more areas, it is expected they be able to perform general Facilities and repair in all areas including the support of other departments if assigned.


Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing preventive maintenance and repairs on building systems including mechanical, electrical, and lighting.
  • Provide general support for building operations which could include plumbing, drywall/painting, office furniture moves and new hire setups.
  • Conduct routine maintenance inspections, troubleshoot problems, and make repairs.
  • Review assigned work orders in Facilities ticket system and update tickets through closure for repairs & preventative maintenance.
  • Maintains shop and storage areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Oversee internal/external projects including scheduling and contractor/vendor interface.
  • Comply with all safety programs including lockout-tag out procedures, confined space procedures, and other safety and environmental procedures/policies to ensure compliance with all company policies, building codes and safety initiatives as assigned.
  • Willing attitude to support areas outside of your primary area including being a backup to equipment maintenance, security or safety based on business need.
  • Communicate effectively with team to give equipment passdowns and contractors when troubleshooting equipment.
  • Be part of facilities on call support program which requires weekend and off hour support when scheduled up to 1 week/month.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or GED required. Some specialized certification may be required.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
  • 2 years' experience in building maintenance or equipment maintenance
  • US Security Clearance required or able to acquire a security clearance through our Security department
  • Ability to stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs/ladders, and lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Comfortable using a computer including Word, Excel, Outlook

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing systems
  • Experience with vendor management
  • Forklift Operator or able to be certified
  • Understand how to read blueprints and as-built drawings
  • Experience working with chemical waste

Hourly Range: Facilities Technician: $29.00-$37.00. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
