Step into the role of Executive Chef at Fayette County School Corporation in Connersville, IN-where your creativity and leadership will craft the dining experience for over 3,200 students across 8 schools. Reporting to the Director of Dining Services, you'll lead a talented team with precision and energy, all while enjoying a phenomenal Monday-Friday schedule from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Say goodbye to late nights and weekends, and hello to work-life balance in a role that truly matters.

In this exciting position, you'll collaborate with an Assistant Director and 55 dedicated Chartwells associates to deliver outstanding meals and experiences across a 8 schools. You'll also support a growing catering program and lead standout culinary initiatives like live cooking demos, smoking meats, and mentoring a senior student from the local Career Center's culinary program. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops regular and specialty menus in line with K12 standards, ensuring adherence to portioning and presentation guidelines.
  • Trains kitchen staff in food preparation, equipment operation, and safety protocols, promoting a culture of excellence.
  • Establishes and maintains thorough cleaning and maintenance schedules for equipment and work areas.
  • Handles inventory of food and supplies, optimizing utilization while ensuring vital products are readily available.
  • Ensures compliance with health and sanitation regulations through meticulous adherence to department procedures and participation in audits.
  • Actively participates in departmental meetings, staff development initiatives, and professional programs to stay abreast of industry trends.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient functioning of a dining service operation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience in culinary arts preferred.
  • 5+ years of dynamic culinary/kitchen management experience.
  • Shown success in high-volume foodservice operations, with a solid base in institutional and batch cooking useful.
  • Hands-on chef experience is essential, accompanied by extensive knowledge of food trends, emphasizing quality, production, sanitation, cost control, and presentation.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite and email systems.
  • Willingness to actively engage in client satisfaction programs and activities.
  • ServSafe certification is highly desirable, highlighting a dedication to food safety.
