Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opportunity for a Lead IT Project Manager. This position is on-site at our Indiana Harbor facility located in East Chicago, IN. The Lead Project Manager (PM) will manage and lead large enterprise-wide, cross-functional strategic initiatives and are typically assigned to large-scale, high impact projects with moderate to high risk and complexity.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Direct, coach and mentor other Project Managers, both employees and contract Project Managers.
  • Work very closely with the IT Director responsible for Project Management Office (PMO) to support all aspects of Project Management (PM), PM Processes and tools.
  • Expected to be the highest-level expert in all of the company PM Processes on SAP projects.
  • Promote and support Project Management best practices.
  • Fully understand and support company PMO practice methodology; stage-gate process, deliverables and approvals.
  • Support PMO practice methodology improvements; strategic vision and strategic execution.
  • Direct large-scale, complex projects that may involve multiple internal and external Stakeholders.
  • Develop the project charter, integrated project plan, resource plan, contingency plan, and related project management artifacts.
  • Evaluate trade-offs between project size and complexity, cost, urgency, risk, and stakeholder value.
  • Strong negotiation skills to solve conflicts involving the stakeholders (including project team, business users, high level managers).
  • Validate financial forecasts and provide on-going reconciliation of resources and other related project expenditures.
  • Partner with Business Sponsors and Stakeholders to define success metrics and criteria. Build, lead, and coach multiple project teams throughout project lifecycles.
  • Facilitate all operational checkpoint activities throughout the lifecycle of projects.
  • Assess and resolve all high priority project risks as they are encountered.
  • Ensure all projects adhere to project methodology compliance standards set by the company.
  • Continually update relevant business stakeholders of project status and periodically publish project status reports.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in routinely briefing key Stakeholders on different aspects of assigned initiatives.
  • Represent the project in various project governance and inter-department forums.
  • Define and track project milestones while developing, maintaining, and reporting on an overall and integrated delivery plan.
  • Ensure all projects meet success parameters and ROI targets stated in the business case.
  • Ensure end results are of the highest caliber with a clearly articulated scope and quantifiable business benefit.
  • Assist, share learning, and mentor others within the PMO regarding standards, organizational understanding, and relationship building to promote the successful delivery of projects.
  • May have supervisory responsibilities in the future.
  • Travel 15% of the time to plants across the Midwest.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent.
  • Five years of experience as a Computer Systems Analyst or related.
  • Must have 5 years of experience managing IT projects and/or small programs in a large operating environment in the steel industry.
  • Waterfall and Agile methodologies; leading cross-functional teams of other project managers, outside stakeholders, and IT functional experts.
  • SAP project management; and legacy IT system integration to SAP ERP.
  • 3 years of experience mapping SAP data to MES systems using middleware services such as IBM WebSphere.
  • 2 years of experience with Microsoft Visio, OneNote, and Project.
  • Must be willing to travel 15% of the time to plants across the Midwest.
