We are looking for a Head of Ecosystem Rare Disease, West who is motivating and inspiring towards a focus on the patient, to join us in our Epilepsy and Rare Syndromes team. The Head of Ecosystem Rare Disease, West Region territories include Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Nevada, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Alaska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana, Alabama, western Tennessee, Kentucky, portion of Michigan, and southern Indiana.

Candidates should reside close to a major city/airport in this region.

About the role

The Head of Ecosystem Rare Disease, West sets overall strategy and ensures alignment of objectives. They lead by motivating and inspiring Ecosystem Leads in the performance of their roles coordinating the activities of all external facing UCB roles involved in patient value creation, and pursuit of UCB organizational goals.

Responsible for hiring, firing, disciplining, managing, coaching, and developing Ecosystem Leads to engage and build effective relationships with HCPs and other stakeholders (Hospitals and Systems) to create the best experiences for patients living with Rare Diseases.

Explains and advocates for organizational decisions, particularly during periods of change. Develops, executes, and monitors tailored strategies for achieving strategic nPVU and financial goals in partnership with specific stakeholders.

What you'll do

  • Ensures that each ecosystem is working to a strategy based on key insights into the unique characteristics of market, designed to maximize patient value creation and advance nPVU brand objectives
  • Makes sure market-facing team members have training and resources to execute effectively, and makes adjustments where necessary to reflect changing market inputs
  • Serves as subject matter expert on different ecosystems, characteristics, key stakeholders and UCB strategies to support Ecosystem Leads and other market-facing team members, and as a resource to nPVU
  • Provides senior level support and presence for thought leaders and other key clinicians, as well as stakeholder leaders within ACO's, networks, and health systems
  • Recruits, retains and develops a highly talented diverse team to secure UCB's success
  • Leads the development of our PVS culture with the patient as the "True North" by embedding PVS principles into the Ecosystem teams to establish a sustainable competitive advantage
  • Annual Strategic Plan across all ecosystems
  • Roll-up of ecosystem dossiers documenting business, political, cultural and professional issues relating to healthcare delivery, updated as necessary to reflect new insights or events
  • Monthly monitoring and reporting on performance versus plan across all ecosystems

Interested? For this role we're looking for the following education, experience and skills:

Minimum qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of pharmaceutical industry experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Management level experience in pharmaceuticals.
  • Minimum 3 years in key account management.

Preferred qualifications

  • M.B.A., JD, PharmD, PhD or MD.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary and/or matrixed teams.
  • Market expertise in health systems (large medical groups and integrated delivery networks) and accountable care organizations.
  • Market expertise in CMS, NCQA, HEDIS and other relevant guidelines.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in managing, developing, and influencing teams.

This position's reasonably anticipated salary range is $236,800 - $310,800 per year. The actual salary offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
