Position Overview:

The Logistics & Shipping Coordinator handles all logistics and shipping needs for Hillsdale.

Shipping & Dispatch Management



  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise the shipment of finished steel products to project sites or clients.
  • Ensure timely dispatch in accordance with project schedules as well as maintenance of overall schedule and reporting potential conflicts.
  • Prepare and verify all necessary shipping documents (delivery dockets, packing lists, load manifests, etc.).
  • Logs completed shipping information, including pictures of every load.


Transport & Carrier Coordination



  • Manage relationships with transport providers and negotiate freight rates.
  • Coordinate flatbed, oversized, and specialty transport as required for steel loads.
  • Track shipments and resolve delivery issues or delays.


Compliance & Safety



  • Ensure compliance with all transportation laws and load securement regulations.
  • Maintain records for traceability, chain of custody, and audits, including but not limed to: returned shipping tickets and OS&D reports.
  • Scanning of inspection tags and Quality documents for assemblies and other materials provided by Hillsdale.


Team & Process Management



  • Manage logistics personnel, including yard workers and drivers (if in-house).
  • Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Develop and maintain KPIs related to delivery performance, freight costs, and handling efficiency.
  • Solicits, reconfirms and/or validates transportation bids for the project to ensure the most economical, reliable, dependable, and responsive transportation solution provider(s) is chosen.


Customer & Stakeholder Communication



  • Coordinate with internal project managers on delivery schedules and logistics needs.
  • Resolve delivery-related customer complaints or non-conformance issues.

  • Models and reinforces safety as a top priority of the organization. Always wears a safety helmet and other appropriate personal protective equipment in the field.
  • Meets schedules and deadlines, adheres to policies and procedures, and maintains a good attendance/tardiness record.
  • Ensures client satisfaction, both internally and externally, through positive, pleasant, professional and efficient handling of issues.
  • Exercises good interpersonal skills by gladly assisting others to accomplish work of the organization, even if it is outside the scope of regular duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Possesses advanced understanding of freight logistics, transport regulations, and load planning.
  • Posesses knowledge of steel components and fabrication processes.
  • Demonstrates ability to read and interpret delivery drawings or fabrication lists.
  • Organizes and manages time, duties and activities efficiently.
  • Utilizes Microsoft Office-based applications and project management software systems appropriate for this role.


Education and Experience

Associate degree and 3-5 years' related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.



  • Proven experience in logistics, shipping, or supply chain management (ideally in steel fabrication, construction, or heavy manufacturing).
  • Experience utilizing ERP systems and logistics software (e.g. Powerfab).


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

None required. OSHA 30 hour required within one month of hiring.
