What you will do

The Director of Engineering leads and oversees all engineering activities for our Distributed Generations, Client Solutions platform within North America.

Role Overview:

The Director of Engineering leads and oversees all engineering activities, ensuring the successful design, development, and implementation of solar and storage distributed generation projects.
This role requires a problem-solving mentality with extensive experience in the solar industry, excellent coordination skills, and a deep understanding of engineering principles.

Main responsibilities:

Engineering Management:



  • Oversee the design of solar distributed generation projects from concept to completion.
  • Manage the accurate and timely execution of system designs, technical reviews and risk assessments.
  • Effectively manage & coordinate multiple providers of Engineering Services.
  • Ensure projects meet all the company's quality and safety standards.


Technical Expertise:



  • Provide technical guidance and support to the engineering team and other departments.
  • Stay in tune with industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure the company remains at the forefront of innovation.
  • Provide technical support during client meetings and presentations.


Process and Product Improvement:



  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, methodologies, and tools.
  • Implement best practices to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality in engineering operations.
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including design standards, specifications, and procedures.


Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement:



  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement with internal stakeholders (Origination, Development, Construction and Asset Management).

What are we looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in energy industry, with at least 5 years in the solar industry.
  • Strong knowledge of solar PV system design, energy storage solutions, and grid integration.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and solve complex technical problems.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

Travel may be 0%-10%

  • Lifting: Ability to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds
  • Vision/Hearing: Ability to understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
  • Safety: Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary

Salary hiring range: 148,160 - 185,200
Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry and are one part of many compensation, benefits, and other reward opportunities we provide. Individual pay rate decisions are based on several factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. We expect most of the candidates who are offered roles at our company to fall healthily throughout the range based on these factors.
