ISP Technician II - Low Voltage Cabling (Travel Required) Contract-to-Hire | 6-Month Term | Milwaukee, WI Area
Travel Required: Yes - up to 60 miles from home base (considered a standard commute) About the Role We're seeking a skilled ISP Technician II to join our growing team for a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity. In this role, you'll be responsible for the on-site installation of voice, data, and fiber optic cabling systems. You'll work independently or as part of a crew, ensuring high-quality installations that meet industry standards and exceed customer expectations. This is a project-based position reporting to the Low Voltage Services Director. Ideal candidates will have 3-5 years of commercial low voltage cabling experience and the ability to lead small to medium-sized projects. Key Responsibilities * Install and terminate Cat5, Cat6, coaxial, and fiber optic cabling * Read and interpret blueprints to identify cabling pathways * Build out data closets: install ladder racks, trays, and rack-mounted equipment * Terminate and test patch panels, jacks, and fiber connectors (SC, LC, ST, etc.) * Perform copper and fiber testing using tools like Fluke meters and OTDRs * Ensure compliance with BICSI, NEC, and local building codes * Train and mentor Level 1 Technicians * Maintain accurate documentation, including As-Built drawings and timesheets * Lead small to mid-sized projects and maintain truck stock and tools Top Skills & Tools * Technical: Cabling, Punchdown, Cat5/Cat6 Termination, Fiber Optic Splicing, Rack & Stack * Tools: Fluke testers, OTDR, power meters, voltage meters * Brands: Hellerman-Tyton, Molex, Signamax, Panduit, Commscope What We're Looking For * 3-5 years of hands-on experience in commercial low voltage cabling * Ability to work independently and lead small crews * Strong communication and documentation skills * Familiarity with safety standards and fire-stopping methods * Willingness to travel locally (within 60 miles) If you're a motivated technician ready to take the next step in your career, we'd love to hear from you!
