About the Role
The Senior Analyst, Finance Data & Systems, will play a pivotal role at National Grid by supporting and enhancing financial system operations and master data management. Reporting to the Manager, Finance Systems, this position bridges the gap between finance system maintenance and master data governance, with a strong emphasis on SAP ECC, S/4HANA, and the MDG module.
What You'll Do
* Manage SAP ECC FICO code block, master data, and system processes for National Grid Finance. Collaborate with finance business partners and controllership to identify, document, and implement system and process changes, ensuring compliance with GAAP, IFRS, FERC, and regulatory frameworks. * Master Data Management: Lead the creation, maintenance, and stewardship of master data (including Internal Order, WBS, GL Account, Cost Centre, and other master data) within SAP systems. * Incident & Defect Resolution: Manage incident (defect) resolution, respond to support tickets, and provide timely assessments and solutions for SAP and ancillary system issues. * Controls, Compliance & Audit Support: Provide governance and oversight for critical finance interfaces, monitor processes (including IDOCs and batch jobs), and support monthly closings by proactively identifying and correcting accounting or system process issues. Lead system documentation, compliance reviews, and support internal/external audits or regulatory inquiries. * Data Quality & Governance: Analyse data quality, support cleansing efforts, and reduce risks related to incomplete, inaccurate, or inconsistent data. Contribute to the creation and maintenance of data artefacts such as Business Glossaries and Data Dictionaries. * Collaboration & Communication: Build strong relationships with finance, accounting, and business teams. Educate stakeholders on data best practices and National Grid policies, and participate in cross-functional initiatives related to systems and data improvements. * Continuous Improvement: emphasising ongoing process enhancements and alignment with industry practices and SAP standards. * Project & Change Management: Assist in implementing finance technology projects, evaluate system enhancements, and partner with business and IT teams to ensure that system configurations and changes meet compliance standards. * Leadership: Lead third-party consultants/contractors as required and provide guidance to managers and senior leadership on matters related to finance systems and data management. * Customer Service: Engage with internal customers to deliver excellent support and ensure efficient, high-quality data and system operations across the organization.
What You'll Need
* Bachelor's degree required; Ideally in MIS, IT, Finance, Accounting or a related field. * 5+ years of increasing responsibility in MIS, IT, or Finance, with hands-on experience in financial systems support and data management. * Experience with large ERP and finance systems such as SAP ECC and S/4HANA; strong expertise in MDG processes and technical aspects. * Proficiency in finance and accounting processes, transactions, and terminology (GAAP, IFRS, FERC, SOX, SEC regulations). * Solid understanding of finance system controls, audit processes, and risk mitigation practices. * Utilities accounting experience preferred. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in data quality assessment and discrepancy resolution. * Effective collaboration, communication, and project management skills. * Familiarity with Relational Database Management Systems, data management concepts, and standard office productivity tools. * Experience collaborating with auditors, leading process walkthroughs, and supporting regulatory compliance efforts.
