What you'll be doing: As an Associate Director of Expansion Sales for the SLED (State, Local, and Education) Public Sector team, you will be a pivotal leader responsible for driving significant growth within our existing government customer accounts. You will build, develop, and lead a high-performing team of sales professionals focused on expanding our footprint by identifying, pursuing, and closing upsell and cross-sell opportunities. Your expert leadership, ongoing mentorship, and strategic guidance will empower your team to deliver outstanding customer service and tailored solutions that make government businesses run better, faster, and smarter.

This position is critical for achieving our revenue growth targets within the government segment and will have a significant impact on our overall business.

  • Lead & Develop High-Performing Teams: Build, motivate, and empower a team of sales professionals, driving their individual sales performance and fostering a culture of continuous development and success.
  • Drive Strategic Expansion: Oversee and execute strategies to grow existing government accounts, focusing on upsell and cross-sell opportunities within the Public Sector/SLED space. You will own an assigned territory with this expansion focus.
  • Coach & Model Excellence: Provide ongoing mentorship and model effective sales strategies, including world-class planning, preparation, and a consultative approach to solving complex government business problems.
  • Pipeline Generation & Management: Oversee the constant building of an expansion pipeline using new techniques, tools, joint marketing initiatives, and joint account planning with the broader Verizon Business Group.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the broader Verizon sales teams to strategize on accounts and provide Telematics solutions to Government Clients. Partner with the Government Customer Success Leadership Team to align on customer needs for long-term retention and growth.
  • Government Procurement & Compliance: Act as the expert on our offerings, understand competitive landscapes, and lead efforts in identifying and coordinating responses to RFPs while ensuring compliance with government bid and contracting processes.
  • Performance Tracking & Reporting: Track and report key financial, budget, and sales metrics, providing clear visibility into team performance.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Enable your team to deliver best-in-class customer service, ensuring outstanding solutions for our government clients.

What we're looking for:

You possess a strong leadership presence with clear and effective communication skills across all audiences. You are agile and can think quickly on your feet to solve problems and address issues in the moment. People see you as a natural coach and mentor, and you view your team's accomplishments as your key indicator for success. You are adept at identifying real business problems and crafting compelling, value-driven solutions.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience in sales, with a focus on expansion or account growth within complex organizations.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Eligibility to pass a Motor Vehicle Record check.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • A Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience bidding, selling to, and contracting with government agencies.
  • Experience selling complex technical solutions and/or systems integration sales, ideally strategic solutions.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and deals under tight timelines.
  • Experience leading a high-performing sales team, ideally in a commissions-based environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to craft compelling sales proposals, business cases, and value propositions.
  • Previous experience selling telematics or SaaS solutions.
Where you'll be working

For part-timers, your coverage will vary as you may be eligible for some of these benefits depending on your individual circumstances.

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is a commission based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours. The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $132,000.00 - $230,000.00.
