The Global Supply Management team is responsible for building and maintaining the supplier relationships that enable OpenAI's most advanced products. We work closely with procurement, engineering, finance, and legal teams-as well as external suppliers-to ensure our sourcing strategies support both innovation and execution. The team leads strategic planning, long-term deal structuring, and high-stakes negotiations, requiring sharp quantitative and analytical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

About the Role
OpenAI is seeking a Global Supply Manager (GSM) to shape the sourcing strategies that connect our product teams with the industries supplying core technologies. As a GSM, you will develop and execute sourcing strategies, negotiate long-term strategic deals, and recommend product innovations driven by supplier capabilities. This role requires deep expertise in market dynamics, negotiation and pricing, manufacturing processes, and risk mitigation.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 4 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies that align with product needs and market dynamics

  • Structure and negotiate long-term strategic deals with suppliers

  • Partner with engineering and product teams to identify supplier-driven innovations

  • Assess and mitigate supply chain risks across technologies and geographies

  • Manage relationships across suppliers, procurement, finance, and legal teams to ensure seamless execution
