*** Sunday- Tuesday 8:00 A.M -4:30 P.M., Thursday-Friday 8:00 A.M.-4:30 P.M., Pay Range: $12.00- $14.00 Per Hour***

Summary/Primary Purpose: Provides support to the Food Ministries programs in Lee County, i.e. Weekend Food for Kids, Senior Luncheons, Bingo Brunch, Mobile Outreach Meals, The Gathering, Sunday Lunch Worship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Responsible for all administrative duties related to food ministries, including organizing volunteers, tracking and reporting of statistics, and supplies.
  • Develop and implement innovative ways to recognize and engage volunteers through communications and special events throughout the year.
  • As directed, provides orientation and documentation for all volunteers including, but not limited to, those who may be National Able or RSVP volunteers.
  • Maintains the master calendar for all food related activities for Lee County, IA
  • This position is responsible for the function of the Weekend for Kids Food Ministry which involved organizing volunteers and preparing packaging.
  • This position is required to be present at all Food Ministries meetings and take related minutes
  • Assist with the development of youth & young adults in their faith, character and person through the corps programs and ministries, increase outreach to youth & young adults.
  • Assist with providing a Christian example through Character building programs & other youth programs by providing program leadership and/or providing guidance, support.
  • Attendance may be required at events and meetings that may be outside of normal working hours as directed.
  • Seek to discover ways to engage youth & young adults in Salvation Army distinctive and/or sponsored programs with the end result to get youth & young adults active in the corps and enrolled as members of The Salvation Army.
  • Encourage, train, and engage in evangelism in ways relevant to youth & young adults.
  • Attend Youth Ministry-related camps, i.e. Youth Councils, Corps Cadet Retreat, Western Worship Arts Academy, and Summer Camps as needed and serve as chaperone.
  • Attend Salvation Army services/events to support and develop of Youth Ministries.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with existing youth leaders, parents and youth.


    • Encourage youth to attend Sunday services, Character Building and Gospel Arts as required.
    • Assist the Director of Food Ministries as needed.
    • This role will assist with Youth Programs as directed.
    • This role will assist with Sunday Lunch Worship as directed.
    • Driving is an essential function of the position.
    • All other duties as assigned.



    Supervises: None

    Education and/or Experience: High School diploma High School Diploma or equivalent, with 2-3 years' experience in a similar role.

    Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.



    • Ability to be flexible, prioritize and work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
    • Intermediate Microsoft Suite skills and the ability to access data systems via a web-based system.
    • Excellent organization skills with great attention to details and administrative skills to include utilization of standard office equipment, data entry and filing.
    • Excellent communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
    • Mathematical skills to include add, subtract, multiply, divide, use of common fractions and decimals.
    • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.
    • Strong independent judgement along with creative problem-solving skills.



    Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business. Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.

This position will require the ability to lift and/or move more than 40 pounds occasionally.
