Position Overview:
The Director of Process Engineering is responsible for leading the process engineering teams at Gopher's plants. This leader will drive the strategy and execution of engineering processes across the organization, leveraging data, technology, and cross-functional collaboration to maximize productivity. They will be responsible for delivering plant performance related to productivity/rate, in addition to a continuous improvement program to drive progress and growth in alignment with the Company's overall business strategy and priorities. This position will ensure that all work is aligned with the Company's commitment to safety and the environment. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Operational Excellence.


Responsibilities:



  • Lead end-to-end process control development and optimization across departments
  • Ensure process operating conditions are in compliance and align with safety and environmental objectives
  • Develop and implement systems for identifying and monitoring operational metrics to maximize facility performance with responsibility for productivity/rate
  • Oversee the execution of strategic and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Source, lead, manage and develop a team of skilled engineers and technical specialists as needed, capable of supporting the organization's routine operations and strategic objectives
  • Provide troubleshooting support to the plant in their responsibilities for executing the process control plan
  • Support Management of Change in the plant processes
  • Own the use of advanced plant process data analysis and reporting techniques to drive better process control and decision making
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering and leadership teams to ensure plans are aligned with strategic process objectives
  • Remain current of industry trends and best practice to ensure process opportunities are identified, investigated, and implemented where appropriate
  • Work to ensure high quality process documentation
  • Behave in a way that's consistent with the company's vision, mission, and values



    Requirements:



    • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering from an accredited College or University
    • 8+ years of previous work experience with process improvement in a manufacturing environment
    • Proven leadership skills to champion change in a highly dynamic environment, promote a positive team atmosphere, and sustain a continuous improvement culture
    • Ability to analyze data, identify trends and propose solutions for process optimization
    • Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams and to champion change in a highly dynamic environment
    • Strong understanding of process flows, P&ID's and mass/energy balances
    • Experience with process control systems and data historians (e.g. Wonderware, PI, etc.)
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Strong track record of delivering business results through time management, action planning, prioritization of tasks, attention to details, and meeting deadlines
    • Highly self-motivated and directed, ability to work well under pressure, with an appropriate sense of urgency



    Preferred Qualifications:



    • Previous experience with and understanding of elevated temperature systems (dryers, furnaces, etc.)
    • Experience using statistical software and tools (JMP, SEEQ, etc.)



    Physical Work Requirements:



    • Ability to wear respiratory protection directly against skin with or without reasonable accommodation
    • Ability to work in a hot production area wearing protective clothing with or without reasonable accommodation
    • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas with or without reasonable accommodation



    Compensation Information:
    Salary Range: $145,193 to $240,599. This position is also eligible for a short-term incentive plan which is determined by the achievement of strategic objectives. The market rate for the role is typically at the midpoint of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as candidate qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
