Job Summary:
The Manager, Hospitalist Group works with a team of professionals to ensure an optimal patient experience. This position supports the overall day to-day administrative and clinical activities of multiple hospital-based providers and locations, establishes and maintains an effective operating environment which assures effective, efficient and safe operations that respond to patient, provider and staff needs. This position will provide on-call support for escalation of issues in Hospitalist and SNF programs.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the oversight of the Hospitalist Program, SNF Program, and Intensivist Program to include day to day operations of the program at Mary Washington and Stafford hospitals, ensuring that established policies and procedures are being consistently followed and needs of physicians and patients are consistently being met.
- Maintains and oversees provider schedules areas of responsibility.
- Ensures all Hospitalists complete their recredentialing timely and appropriately for their licensing, certificates, and credentials.
- Oversees Hospitalists patient experience program and manages coaching needs.
- Ensures medical records are maintained in an organized, up-to-date and confidential manner; Ensures all phone calls are answered and triaged according to defined protocols and handled in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Facilitates the smooth integration of new physicians, working with other departments and agencies as required; coordinates activities related to physician recruitment and credentialing.
- Assists GME faculty with hospitalist rounding coverage.
- Analyzes practice's systems and procedures, recommending and implementing changes, in conjunction with senior management, that enhance quality of patient care, increase operational efficiency and/or support the delivery of affordable care.
- Develops and implements policies and procedures to address practice needs, ensuring that written policies and procedures exist for all essential aspects of practice's operations. Revises and monitors ongoing compliance with procedures and implement corrective action as necessary.
- Completes application and credentialling requirements for SNF program.
- Acts as a liaison between assigned practice, external physician groups, payors, hospital departments, departments of the health system and local employers.
- Provides input on public relations and marketing efforts.
- Participates in budget preparation process. Reviews financial statements for areas of responsibility on a monthly basis and prepares reports of significant budget variances, including corrective action plan as required.
- Monitors revenue cycle functions within area of responsibility. Ensures appropriate policies and procedures are in place and followed in each office to ensure revenue maximization. Maintains working knowledge of and assists in coding and charge submission.
- Stays abreast of regulatory and compliance issues, partnering with Senior Leadership and Regulatory teams for resolution.
- Collaborates with the Physicians and Human Resources in the areas of recruitment, hiring, orientation, discipline, education, professional development and evaluation of all Hospitalists and Associates.
- Investigates and responds to all verbal and written patient complaints.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Two years of managerial/supervisory experience in a health care setting required.
- Experience communicating and partnering with Medical Staff and Community Providers required.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Coding experience preferred.
