Job Summary

Responsible for the oversight and directing of Optimum's Construction Department involving activities in any or all of the following areas new construction, construction upgrade, fiber to the home, fiber outages, and HFC. This includes Commercial (SBS), Carrier, and Residential Construction for B2B, HFC & FTTH. The Sr. Director of Construction directs all aspects of fiber projects to ensure their completion according to standards, specifications, schedules, budgets and contractual commitments and provides direction and guidance to the Directors, Managers and other personnel to ensure the coordination of activities and the timely, accurate completion of projects within budget. This position will oversee all construction activity for Optimum's Tri-State footprint.

Responsibilities
  • Develops and implements standards to ensure efficient design and construction of all - B2B, HFC and FTTH construction
  • Ensure such standards are enforced through testing and implementation of new build of all fiber and HFC projects
  • Oversight of all projects including GA/Municipal/Schools, BCOOL, commercial fiber projects, large venue fiber projects, fiber-fed Wi-Fi projects, and other special projects and all new growth builds, including overseeing contractor activity
  • Implements and monitors reporting systems for control of activities, schedules, and costs
  • Develops, recommends, and meets expense and capital distribution budgets and labor costs
  • Develops and forecasts budgets for capital expense/distribution, inventory/materials, and labor costs; manages/creates MTD and YTD reports based on actual spend vs. budget allocations
  • Ensures the integrity of the design mapping system by both internal and external designers, by making the necessary adjustments in a timely, accurate manner
  • Develops and presents monthly reports regarding SLA's for HFC & B2B new build projects
  • Responsible for measuring the performance of all individual contributors, team leads, and supervisors in the construction department function
  • Oversees and manages the performance of work performed by contractor and/or in-house personnel
  • Effectively partner and collaborate with other Departments such as Design, Fiber Network Management, PMO, OSP, Engineering, Field Operations, Finance, Safety, for effective and timely completion of projects

Qualifications
  • Degree in Computer Science, a related technical or scientific field, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of Fiber, HFC, OSP and/or FTTH construction design and implementation
  • 5+ years of Leadership experience including experience in CATV, VOD, HSI, VOIP Engineering
  • Experience with contractual documents and budget preparation
  • Vendor management and relation experience
  • Expert knowledge of cable television theory of operation and construction procedures
  • Knowledge of basic management principles
  • Advanced mathematical skills
  • Computer skills (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Visio, AutoCAD, Adobe, Smallworld/PNI, etc.)
  • Experience with timely management of T & E reporting

Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is $161,186.00-$230,265.00/ year. The rate/range provided herein is the anticipated pay at the time of hire, and does not reflect future job opportunity.
