Job Description:
The Production Support Engineer is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the performance of transmission production systems, ensuring their reliability, and providing timely support for production incidents. The transmissions are used in military ground vehicles including tanks, howitzers, and infantry fighting vehicles. Responsibilities will include production test cell troubleshooting, production line support, supplier and internal part non-conformances, and new supplier qualification.
Essential Functions:
Monitor production systems for performance issues and outages, responding quickly to alerts.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify root causes of recurring issues and implement long-term solutions.
Investigate and resolve incidents, ensuring minimal downtime and impact on users.
Ensure engineering designs meet serviceability and maintainability requirements.
Creation of repair procedure with a solution-oriented focus responsible for figuring out how to make parts work.
Collaborate with LOB engineering and manufacturing floor to achieve integrated product designs and systems that function cohesively and meet all technical and project milestones.
Work in a cross-functional environment including interfacing with program management, project engineering, test engineering, analysts, designers, and electrical/controls engineering. Also includes interfacing with customers and suppliers.
Participate in root cause failure analysis investigations.
Maintain existing product design including support of the Technical Data Package (TDP), production, and supply chain support.
Supports investigations involving the origination or modification of material, component or process specifications or requirements.
Prepares production support information and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering from an accredited university required with 0-3 years of relevant experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and/or Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
Ability to perform engineering calculations such as mechanical stress, structural, thermal fluids, and heat transfer.
General knowledge of mechanical systems and components such as engines, transmissions, gears, shafts, pumps, and bearings.
Problem solving and troubleshooting skills, including the ability to participate in failure analysis investigations.
GD&T knowledge, including the ability to create and read machining and assembly prints
Pro-E / Creo or other modeling software experience.
Ability to generate supporting evidence and data for technical decisions, complete assignments within budget and schedule, and work with minimal supervision.
Ability to manage and organize multiple project tasks to meet established deadlines, including tracking metrics and reporting status of engineering activities.
Excellent written and verbal communications.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Previous experience with transmission or gear box components and concepts such as:
Hydraulic systems, control valves, and pumps
Gears, planetary sets, bearings, clutches, brakes, structural housings, and shafts
Geartrain performance parameters such as speed, torque, power, and gear ratio.
Integration into a vehicle and performance evaluation
