Work Schedule: 3rd Shift (3pm - 11pm) Employees are expected to cover vacancies in their specific positions on 12 hour shifts.

Job Description:
Operate dual fired kiln and related equipment to fire pigments and coating onto granules for both light and dark kiln systems. Control flow of granules, operate and observe all equipment in the kiln area such as kilns, coolers, conveyors, oilers, pumps, scrubbers, and elevators. Observe granule flow for contamination and off-color material. Ensure cyclones, trickle valves, and chutes are kept clean to prevent plugs. Check and clean scalping screens. Clean system during color changes. Route feed through conveyors and elevators to put material into transfer bins at start of run or during off-color periods. Regulate feed from transfer bins to standard flow. Drain and fill the water system as required. Light kilns and raise temperatures of kilns to specified temperature. Set valves to apply water in coolers and watch Rota meters periodically to ensure uniform flow from pumps. Check recording charts and make adjustments to water flow as required to maintain specified operating conditions. Operate coater system to apply coater in coolers. Adjust rate as directed. Operate oiler and related coater equipment to apply oil and coater in an oiler mixer. Make adjustments to the system as directed. Get a sample of material from the kiln, cooler and oiler every half hour and check for contamination to see if shade meets specification. Record oiler readings, kiln temperatures, and cooler temperatures. Direct flow of granules by conveyors and elevators to proper storage bins. Inspect all related equipment for mechanical and operating problems, perform adjustments and lubrication when necessary. Keep the work area clean and orderly. Perform other duties as required and assigned. Operates microprocessor. Ensure the plant area meets or exceeds all safety standards for SGI (guards, walkways...etc.) and all work is performed safely.

Qualifications and/or Requirements:
Candidates must have knowledge and/or experience of and be able to operate all equipment in the Coloring Plant including elevators, rotary kilns, conveyors and screens.
Candidates must possess strong organization skills and be able to demonstrate a strong sense of urgency.
Candidates must have strong attention to detail requiring constant visual and mental concentration while observing multiple process control screens.
Must be able to work well under pressure, use good judgment, and be decisive on equipment adjustments based on equipment operating parameters to obtain proper tonnages to produce all products within quality specifications with little or no downtime.
Must be able to work in all weather (hot or cold) conditions and be subject to noise and dusty conditions.
