This position sets up and operates welding equipment to product parts which meet established standards for quality and quantity. Interpret blueprints, specifications, etc. to determine appropriate welding process. Join, fabricate and repair metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques.

Job Summary

  • Set up and operate welding equipment (Spot, TIG, MIG, and Solder) to produce parts which meet established standards for quality and quantity
  • Participate in planning for new fixtures and jigs
  • Welds metal parts together using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes
  • Keep records of time, job, part operation for production reporting
  • Grind and clean parts as necessary
  • Identify problems and initiate corrective action to minimize scrap and downtime
  • Keep department work areas clean and orderly for efficiency and safety in accordance with 5S
  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications
  • May be assigned painting projects as needed
  • Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Demonstrate attention to detail
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness; look for ways to improve and promote quality; monitors own work to ensure quality
  • Ability to balance team and individual responsibilities; exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views

Required Experience and Education

  • H.S. Diploma or GED
  • Welding certificate from college or technical school; OR 2-4 years related experience and/or training combined with successful completion of certified test welds.

Licenses, Certifications, etc.

  • Pass and attain MIL-Std D17.1 certification for Stainless Steel and/or Aluminum
