DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Nurse Aide, you will administer care in the areas of skilled care, personal care, outpatient, and general population. You will utilize basic nursing skills and nursing procedures to maintain optimum inmate health and provide quality care such as obtaining vital signs, weights, and other measurements. You will also complete documentation as required; collect specimens as directed by the registered nurse for urine, feces, and sputum; and assist inmates with daily living activities and hygiene to ensure their basic physical care needs are met. In this role, you will participate in life skills programming by following nursing care plan orders, providing care and interventions consistent with inmate's needs, and documenting on assigned aspects of the nursing care plan. Other key duties of the position include participating in emergency response drills, as well as performing procedures such as CPR and obstructed airway.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- The Department of Corrections is staffed by 3 work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
- 1st shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM; 2nd shift: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM; and 3rd shift: 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM
- 8-hour shifts with rotating days off
- Work hours TO BE DETERMINED
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
- Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.
Special Requirement:
- This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
