DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Utility Plant Operator, you will monitor and operate equipment in the utility plant at SCI Coal Township. You will oversee inmate work crews performing tasks, perform scheduled and non-routine maintenance, and make repairs to ensure proper functionality and continuous operations. You will also test water chemistry and water softening systems, operate auxiliary equipment, and read gauges, meters, and sensing devices. The role requires using sound technical knowledge to ensure continued operation of plant equipment while directing inmates in the standard principles of boiler plant maintenance, operation, and repair. In addition, you will update test logs, clean equipment, and maintain tools and caustic supplies in accordance with applicable regulations and policies. Interested in learning more? - Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- You will work rotating shifts with rotating days off.
- 1st shift (7:00 AM to 3:00 PM); 2nd shift (3:00 PM to 10:00 PM); 3rd shift (10:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam or hot water generating plant, or a steam and electric generating plant; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- You must be in possession of an active Power (Stationary) Engineer license.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
