Job Details:
Mercer University is searching for a Purchasing Assistant on the Macon campus.

Responsibilities:

The Purchasing Assistant is responsible for setting up suppliers, auditing expense reports, and general office duties. This position's duties also include creating and modifying new and existing suppliers with compliance to policy and audit controls, auditing credit card expense transactions, and ensuring compliance with policy and procedures. The Purchasing Assistant will also be responsible for sorting and distributing daily mail, greeting and assisting traffic at the front office, maintaining the copy machine, including keeping supplies ordered and stocked for the office, reporting building/office maintenance or repair issues needed to Auxiliary Services and/or Physical Plant, filing duties, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

One year of college coursework and one year of prior administrative support experience to include accounting, purchasing, finance, or closely related experience is required. In lieu of college coursework, equivalent directly relevant experience will be considered.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and move easily between job duties
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in determining solutions
  • Ability to educate, direct, and train end-users, peers, and management on policies and procedures
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to maintain a filing system


Preferred Experience:
  • Workday
  • Previous procurement card experience
  • Previous experience in higher education purchasing
