What You'll Do

As the Health and Safety Manager, you will lead commitment and ongoing efforts to achieve Zero Harm at the Carthage, Missouri Site. You will be responsible for maintaining ownership of the HSE Management System for the site and ensure all standards, objectives and regulations are followed. Other duties include:

  • Grow a behavioural based safety culture through the implementation of activities, procedures and ongoing education demanding safety as the Company's number one priority.

  • Demonstrate and/or lead the commitment to achieving Zero Harm through behavioral based safety

  • Ensure compliance with applicable HSE performance standards, objectives and regulations

  • Live and foster the Corporate Values

  • Promote HSE management system so that policies, procedures, and requirements are understood, properly interpreted, administered and reviewed

  • Provide consultation and coaching to all employee groups with a purpose of instilling and maintaining a pro-active approach to safety in all areas

  • Train others on incident investigation techniques (RCA-FBD) and the use of the IPL incident and action item database (SHAERS)

  • Lead incident investigations, reporting and follow-up

  • Coordinate on-site and off-site safety and health training for new and existing employees

  • Accompany external safety and health auditors during plant inspections

  • Facilitate federal (OSHA and DHS) inspections of the plant

  • Provide technical expertise in occupational health & safety regulations, policies and procedures

  • Make recommendations to site management regarding health and safety policy issues

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of local H&S policies and programs

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor degree in Health, Safety, or related field preferred or equivalent education, training, and experience

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other similar registration preferred.

  • 3+ years of experience working in management of Health and Safety in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred

  • Ability to interact and discuss issues with regulatory compliance officials

  • n Ability to provide direction and coaching to employees at all levels to include coaching of site leadership team

  • Understanding and compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, DOT, and BATF regulations, familiarity with manufacturing security protocols

  • Knowledge of basic investigative techniques for root cause analysis

  • Must be willing to undergo and pass an ATF background check as required to be a possessor of explosives.
  • Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player
