Your Role

As a Gensler Project Architect in our Washington, D.C. office, your job is to combine creativity and technical knowledge with business skills and understanding to produce functionally beautiful spaces. It's your job to contribute to a team of architects and designers to deliver unparalleled sports facilities. You will leverage your technical acumen in Revit to drive projects from concept through build in a collaborative team while mentoring your team members. With you as part of the design team, architecture has never been so engaging.

What You Will Do

  • Manage multiple aspects of client, team and project coordination, including full documentation coordination with consultants (structural, MEP, lighting, AV, acoustical, accessibility, building envelope, life safety, etc.)
  • Lead technical documentation process, guide questions for specifications, and mentor less experienced designers
  • Manage communication between project team, client, vendors, contractors, and consultants
  • Resolve complex technical and design issues to produceinnovative technical/constructible solutions
  • Direct production of drawings, specifications and construction administration tasks
  • Responsible for oversight and delivery of documents with design intent and top-notch technical quality
  • Maintain and oversee the project manual and specifications
  • Process submittals/substitution requests during construction and address RFIs
  • Interface with building and permitting officials during permitting and construction phases
  • Actively participate in and contribute to the financial performance of project
  • Review and contribute to proposals and contracts with Project Manager
  • Ensure projects conform to contract
  • Contribute to office activities, initiatives and learning programs

Your Qualifications

  • Registered Architect
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture from an accredited program
  • 5-10 years of related experience, including demonstrated success, or a passion for, delivering sports related facilities (ground up and renovations for training facilities, arenas, stadiums, ballparks, etc.)
  • Passion and excitement for sports related projects
  • Familiar with sightline calculations and assembly related ADA issues
  • Proficiency with Revit
  • Full knowledge of architectural principles/practices
  • Working knowledge of building codes, standards and building structures
  • Ability to create technical documents that succinctly describe the work to be done
  • Experience with the entire project lifecycle and design process through post-occupancy
  • Flexibility to focus on concurrent projects in various stages of development
  • A quick learner with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and management skills to include leadership, organization and mentoring
  • Collaborative and team-conscious
  • Ability to handle difficult situations with tact, grace and style
