Audit Manager

Annual Salary $86,465.60 - $129,688

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Deputy Director of Audits, the Manager Audit is responsible for managing professional Audit Services Division staff in conducting audits under Government Auditing Standards and in collecting and objectively analyzing information for other purposes consistent with the Mission Statement of the Audit Services Division.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Manage, motivate, and directly supervise professional staff through ongoing guidance and direction; monitor work quality and progress in meeting audit objectives. Oversee planning, fieldwork, and writing phases of complex audits in conformance with Government Auditing Standards.
  • Manage staff and perform tasks necessary to gather and analyze data, draw conclusions, and prepare draft reports, memos, and other written materials concerning a broad range of complex issues as assigned by the Deputy Director of Audits.
  • Develop and maintain effective professional working relationships with auditees and other professionals external to the Division in conducting audits and special assignments.
  • Work closely with professional staff in developing and refining professional auditing skills including interviewing, data gathering, data analysis, project planning, writing, and other specialized skills as needed.



Minimum Requirements:



  • Current resident of the USA must establish WI residency with 6 months of appointment and maintain residency during incumbency.
  • Bachelor Degree in Social Sciences, Business/Public Administration, Accounting/Finance, or a closely related field
  • Experience at an Intermediate level with computer software programs including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • At least Five (5) years of related practical work experience performing Government Performance Audits (or related experience)
  • At least Three (3) years of Supervisory/Management experience.
  • Current Driver's License and access to a reliable insured vehicle; both maintained throughout employment



Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The ability to manage teams that work with high volume and variable work demands and deadlines. Interpret and adapt to established practices and procedures, using independent judgement, for situations where the applications are not clearly defined. High level of communication skills, speaking, reading, and writing reports and correspondence. Frequent contact with internal and external contacts and need to explain complex information clearly. Maintain sensitive and confidential information with a high degree of knowledge of authority in securing, understanding and cooperating with multiple departments. Perform other duties as needed and required.
