A Check & Straighten Operator corrects and verifies parts to comply to prescribed requirements of contour, flatness, waviness, angularity, etc., as applicable.




  • The process of using a tool such as a punch or check fixture and mechanically manipulating the profile of a part to closely match that of the tool. This operation is performed by a skilled operator using hand tools and measuring implements such as feeler gauges or go-no go gauges.
  • Set up parts on pedestals, punch and or check fixtures
  • Use prescribed solvents, cleaning agents to remove dirt, grit and foreign objects
  • Use hammers, tools-pneumatic and/or hydraulic, gauges, fixtures as required
  • Scribe part, cut and or shear, grind and deburr as per associated instructions
  • Performs typical check & straight operations to support the production schedule
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
  • Follows prescribed safety regulations and guidelines
  • Makes use of pallets, hand carts and manually lifts, carries parts as needed
  • Must participate in O.J.T (on the job training) as determined by supervisor/manager
