Job Overview
The Engineering Tech V will conduct tests and resolve problems with machinery and equipment. Establishes service by studying system requirements, ordering and gathering components and parts, completing installation, performing acceptance test. Keeps equipment operational by following operational instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, and performing preventative maintenance. Documents service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records in the Government Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) database (Maximo).
- Analyzes systems, major units, devices, or equipment; conducts tests or experiments; analyzes results, repairs, or recommends corrective action to Project Manager.
- Review guidelines, specifications, and developed designs. Analyzes technical data to determine applicability to design problems; thereafter recommend systems improvements.
- Develop Systems tests to evaluate equipment performance. Determines test requirements, equipment modification, and test procedures; conducts tests using all types of instruments; analyzes and evaluates test results, and prepares reports on findings and recommendations.
Pay Rate: $56.23/hourly Work Model: Onsite/In-Office
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Installation, troubleshooting, and startup of Model Shop equipment and machinery.
- Perform preventive maintenance of Model shop system and components to include mechanical systems, electrical systems, wiring systems and devices, cabling and automation systems within the Model Shop.
- Assist and escort when needed Subcontractors working within the Model shop.
- Review job plans and operating procedures for accuracy. Incumbent will facilitate communication and activities related to correcting deficiencies that do not align with manufacturer and industry standards/recommendations for effective equipment life expectancy.
- Generate and facilitate Requests for Information (RFI) to clarify and correct electrical and mechanical systems outside the scope of the contract.
- Conduct root cause analysis on systems and components and provide feedback to Project Manager
- Provides and executes standards and criteria for specialized, difficult, or unusual requirements.
- Coordinate projects with other disciplines. Applies knowledge of other disciplines to determine coordination effort required to address various design considerations.
- Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment. Observes that federal, state, and local codes concerning health, safety, and environment are strictly adhered to in the programming, design, and construction of real property facilities.
- May occasionally be required to operate Government or Company owned motor vehicles and/or other equipment.
- Supports other department staff as needed or directed.
- Ability to work overtime and adjusted work schedules as warranted for work load and projects.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- A Journeyman's license in HVAC, Electrical or at least 7 years of experience or an equivalent combination of skills, education and experience as a qualified Systems Technician.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Adequate technical knowledge and aptitude in the performance of system maintenance and repair to perform high level troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of the Electrical Code and the National Fire Protection Code.
- Strong communication skills.
- Knowledge of standard contracting regulations, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements as outlined in applicable standards, regulations, and/or technical orders.
- Ability to research, analyze, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures to a variety of situations and to recommend timely and economical solutions.
- Ability to adequately utilize Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word to perform job duties.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required intelligence community level clearance.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Possess a valid and acceptable driver's license/record.
