Position Summary

Site Team Lead

Deer Park, TX

Hybrid Position- 3 days onsite.

Manage all aspects of the Client Site in Deer Park Low Complexity Project Task Force. This task for consists of 25-30 engineering and design staff supporting projects up to $5mln TIC and is located within the site operating area. This group averages 20 projects. This position does not typically have individual project responsibility; however, occasionally this may be required to support the client site needs. This position will require occasional field walks and visits.


Responsibilities

  • Assure proper project and discipline engineering and design execution.
  • Support project staff preparing scope, cost estimates, schedules and Site Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) documentation.
  • Support project staff in budget development, design development, or design coordinate, and management of installation of project modifications and upgrades to the facility within the allowable schedule.
  • Assure execution of projects within 10% of approved budgets. Support project engineers in preparation of Project Variation Requests (PVR) if budgets are under or overrun. Responsible for preparation of Scope Change Requests (SCR) should project needs deviate from the approved scope.
  • Incorporate the applicable requirements of the site EHS program into project design scopes and continually evaluate ways to make the site run safer.
  • Support preparation of bid packages for procurement of outside equipment and services, evaluate bids received, and make award recommendations.
  • Support reviews of construction documentation prepared by outside engineering firms and vendors for compliance with project specs, constructability, and operability.
  • Prepare task force reports to communicate project status and progress vs schedule and budget targets to management.
  • Coordinate with operations, maintenance, safety, and environmental departments to ensure the project safely meets the end user's needs and are, in compliance with all laws/regulations.
  • Oversee day to day task force activities in the plant and notify the North America Operations Director and other discipline managers of any relevant issues that arise.
  • Must have strong technical and analytical abilities in to handle operational problems and plant compliance concerns with quick diagnosis and prompt decisions. Must have the ability to lead, motivate and influence others. Strong communication and diplomacy skills as this role will interact with all levels of the organization and third parties. This position will require significant interaction with Client Capital Project Management and Supervision for reporting, problem solving and project planning. Working with international partners is requisite.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master of Science in Engineering from ABET accredited university preferred.
  • 10+ years of engineering related experience in the oil, gas, or chemical manufacturing industry preferred.
  • 5+ solid years of experience with capital project development and/or execution required.
  • 5+ years in-plant experience.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) required.
  • Strong management skills required, including team leading, decision making, and prioritizing.
  • Must be able to acquire Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC).

Education Requirements

Bachelor or Master of Science in Engineering from ABET accredited university preferred.
