Job Overview
The Delivery Driver Trainer is responsible for the training and development of driver trainees throughout the Market Unit and preparing them to obtain their CDL. This position is also responsible for the development of drivers who need additional driving skills training to perform their jobs effectively and safely. The Delivery Driver Trainer will work collaboratively with local distribution leaders in the scheduling and creation of a training curriculum that promotes growth in driver availability and growth in driver skillsets.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Coaches,teaches, and conducts on-the-road training to driver trainees throughout the market unit by providing them with the practical knowledge and skills necessary for them to secure a Class A Commercial Driver's LicenseThis includes all aspects of the Entry-Level Driver Trainer (ELDT) requirements, which includes conducting theory/classroom training, behind-the-wheel instruction (range and public road), maintaining proper documentation (self-certifications, qualification documentation, copy of a driver trainee's CLP or CDL as applicable), and certifying trainees on the Training Provider Registry (TPR) to obtain their CDL.
- Identifies, schedules delivers and evaluates trainee learning via videos, computer-based training (CBT), classroom training
- Creates training material
- Coordinates, schedules and conducts CDL training and testing programs. Performs file reviews and driving evaluations on "high-risk drivers"
- Performs distribution center gate checks and driver audits. Manages, coordinates, and implements vehicle accident prevention strategies
- Tracks and maintains driver trainee records of CDL participant's training program progress that include pass, fail rates, on-the-job assessments (pre-trip, ride-along, RED rides, and observations), mentor, and peer coaching feedback.
- Works with Learning Services team to record progress in Learning Management System. Communicates with Management team participant's program progress in the program.
- Coordinates with theRisk and Safety group to ensure all safety materials and training assignments are completed. Work closely with MU Safety Manager. Facilitates Safe Driving class. Performs distribution center gate checks and driver audits. Manages, coordinates, and implements vehicle accident prevention strategies
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of Coca-Cola Consolidated, Inc. sales and delivery operations preferred. Prior leadership and management experience is a plus.
- Extensive knowledge ofFederal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs) and all applicable CDL regulations at state and federal levels.
- Ability to assess and solve training needs and effectively train teammates. Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have a valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record. Minimum of 5 years of commercial driving experience required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Add Text Travel required ~40%. Varies by MU. (could be less)
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Class A Commercial Drivers License
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge acquired through 5 -7 years of work experience
