About the Team

As the Engineering Manager for the Quality Engineering Tooling & Frameworks team, you'll lead a team of talented engineers focused on building internal software used by engineering teams to launch the next generation of software on the world's most popular gaming platform. As PlayStation continues to innovate in the interactive entertainment space, your team will play a critical role enabling and optimizing product teams to deliver value to customers at breakneck speed.


About The Role

You will lead a skilled team of engineers focused on test frameworks, engineering tools, and web applications which powers the engineering experience at PlayStation. You'll partner with product, design, AI/ML, and engineering teams across the globe to define, build, and scale tools used to build experiences for customers, from the PlayStation interface to peripherals, such as the PULSE Elite wireless headset. From enabling automation on proprietary hardware to building web applications, your team's work is instrumental in delivering experiences to PlayStation engineers - and to PlayStation users across the world.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a diverse team of experienced software engineers: Providing guidance, mentorship, and unwavering support to help them achieve their professional goals, fostering an environment where they can thrive and excel.
  • Collaborate with partners globally to define and build the tools used by internal engineers, accelerating the development and testing of future capabilities
  • Encourage research, innovation, and a culture of continuous learning in the team.
  • Champion a strong team culture of accountability, operational excellence, and work-life balance.
  • Support technical leads by ensuring that the team can access tools and resources to perform their work effectively.
  • Aligning team objectives with the overall organizational goals and long-term vision, ensuring that our efforts contribute to the broader mission of the company.
  • Conducting staff appraisals, fostering individual growth and development through regular one-to-ones, and identifying and mitigating risks.


What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in people management leading full stack teams.
  • 8+ years of experience in a technical role
  • Excellent people skills with line management experience (goal setting, appraisals, staff development, performance management).
  • Strong advocacy for personal and professional growth, ensuring that every team member feels valued and heard.
  • Experience with distributed system design, system scaling, and performance optimization in cloud environments such as AWS leveraging technologies like Kubernetes
  • Growth mindset - you're eager to expand your skill set as well as your team's
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and meet project timelines, with proven experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Consistent track record taking a project from requirements to launch.
  • Excellent communication skills, building positive relationships with stakeholders and collaborating with team across the organization

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role's base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

In addition, this role

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.
$201,400 $302,000 USD
