What You Can Expect

As our Market & Interconnection Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the technical processes involved in interconnecting new renewable energy generation projects, such as solar, wind, and battery storage to the electrical grid across key North American ISOs. This role requires a strong understanding of interconnection procedures, regulatory frameworks, and market dynamics, along with excellent analytical and communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams, utilities, and regulatory agencies.

This position is based in Houston, TX and reports to the Vice President, Chief Technology Officer, ENGIE FlexGen North America.




  • Track, identify and analyze market requirements for products/services and timelines to turn into technical specifications for integration in product platform
  • Manage the full lifecycle of grid interconnection applications for new renewable energy projects within ERCOT, CAISO, MISO, and other relevant ISOs/RTOs
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of each ISO's interconnection rules, tariffs, and processes.
  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely interconnection applications, including all required technical documentation
  • Coordinate closely with internal teams (project development, engineering, power market) and external stakeholders (utilities, ISOs, independent engineers) throughout the interconnection process
  • Manage interconnection studies, including scope definition, review of results, and development of mitigation strategies
  • Identify and proactively address potential interconnection risks and challenges to ensure project timelines are met
  • Track the progress of interconnection applications and communicate updates to internal stakeholders
  • Participate in industry working groups and regulatory proceedings related to grid interconnection
  • Stay up to date on changes to ISO rules, regulations, and industry best practices related to renewable energy interconnection
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams on interconnection-related matter



What You'll Bring



  • You hold a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related technical field. In lieu of a degree, we will accept a combination of years of experience and other education/certification experience for the role
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience managing grid interconnection processes for renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and battery storage
  • You are knowledgeable in ERCOT, CAISO, and MISO interconnection rules, tariffs, and procedures; experience with other ISOs such as SPP, PJM, NYISO, or ISO-NE
  • You have a proven ability to prepare and submit accurate, complete interconnection applications and technical documentation
  • You are an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, able to effectively engage with diverse internal and external stakeholders
  • You have strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • You are capable of interpreting and analyzing complex technical documents and regulatory filings
  • You are a self-starter who thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments with limited structure



Additional Details



  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy, three (3) days in the Houston, TX office
  • Must be available to travel domestically up to 15% of the time
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license/clean driving record for use of company vehicles
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies



Compensation

Salary Range: $86,100 - $132,020 USD annually

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
