Snowflake is seeking an experienced technology transactions/commercial contracting leader to join us as a Director, Assistant General Counsel - Procurement reporting to a VP, Deputy General Counsel - Commercial and to help scale and mature our growing, world-class procurement-legal team as Snowflake continues to grow in size and expand our business. We are looking for someone with demonstrated leadership skills who can hit the ground running and make an immediate impact. Our ideal candidate will be an experienced, creative, collaborative and pragmatic problem solver who excels at negotiating complex vendor agreements and leading key team initiatives, including the improvement of templates, processes and cross-functional workflows. Top-tier writing and analytical skills are required, as is a demonstrated ability to recognize and weigh business and legal risks, think strategically, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and advance practical solutions. This is a hybrid role based in Menlo Park or Dublin (California).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work closely with Snowflake's procurement team and business partners throughout the organization on inbound transactions for technology and services

  • Effectively lead, project-manage, structure, negotiate and close inbound vendor agreements, such as agreements for software, SaaS, consulting, software development, and managed services

  • Supervise and lead the procurement legal team in their negotiations and legal support of Snowflake's procurement team

  • Handle escalations from other groups and resolve conflicts peacefully and effectively

  • Provide sound advice and guidance on legal and commercial issues to senior business leaders

  • Balance legal risks against real-world business imperatives to provide pragmatic and market-based solutions

  • Respond promptly to the demands of an active procurement team and their management

  • Monitor overall deal workflow to identify logjams and stretch past the boundaries of the role to (diplomatically) nudge things in the right direction

  • Lead the development and improvement of forms, policies, processes and playbooks to help streamline, simplify and automate our contracting processes

  • Keep abreast of the rapidly evolving legal landscape affecting our agreements

  • Work well in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment

A successful candidate will be able to forge strong relationships with Snowflake vendors, as well internal clients and cross-functional groups within Snowflake. The right candidate will be flexible, fun, hard-working and have the desire to be impactful, as a key driver to Snowflake's continued growth and success.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
  • 9+ years of legal experience in technology transactions and commercial contracting, preferably with a mix of in-house and technology-focused law firm roles and at least 5 years of strong management experience, preferably in-house with a successful, high-growth enterprise SaaS company

  • Significant experience negotiating inbound technology and services contracts

  • Excellent drafting skills with the ability to nimbly craft creative solutions on the fly

  • Exceptional project management and multitasking skills with a proven ability to juggle competing priorities and operate independently with limited supervision

  • General knowledge of worldwide data privacy regulations

  • Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to learn

  • Highly responsive and service-oriented attitude

  • Ability to collaborate with a wide variety of people, at all levels in the company, across the globe

  • Strong integrity and sound judgment

  • Attitude that no project is too big or too small

  • JD from an accredited US law school and membership in at least one US state bar

  • Outstanding written and oral English communication skills

  • Prior experience with legal workflow technologies such as e-signature, document management, and contract lifecycle management is a plus
